Sleepless in Roswell [Part 2]

This the concluding part of Colin Bennett’s Sleepless in Roswell, part one of which was published yesterday.

5. Weaponisation of the Narrative

Alien under ConstructionIn this sense meant by Errol Morris, can we deconstruct “fact”? Is the universe meant to work properly, or does the fabled “noise in the machine” function (like the UFO) as an anomalistic destabiliser? Does the slightest anomaly blossom out like the proverbial butterfly’s wing and throw any and every partially-stabilised system into chaos?

Certainly belief structures, from Jesus to UFOs, from Nazism to Capitalism, can be designed, managed and cultivated as crops in a cosmological nutrient. The symbiotic relationship of we might call a “soft” Lady GaGa mass-media system to the “hard” spines of rational belief structures appears to  concern the somewhat political management of different degrees of counter-ritualization concerning metaphor structure. Story-lines dispute fact and fact does not like story lines in the sense that they tend to destabilize the inner dimensions of fact which propagandistically (and all culture is propaganda) would like to be seen as absolutes.

This leads to the somewhat postmodern thought that live consciousness is a manipulation of theatres managing a scaling of allowances rather than objectivities. Thus in our New Model Ufology here we may say that the “extraterrestrial alien” (for example) is permanently “under construction” rather than being either strictly factual or strictly fictional.

Thus the answer to Fermi’s question “where are they?” is that  the alien is under construction…

Therefore (as is happening) bits and pieces of a whole thing may arrive before the main body. This is a good model for Darwinism and the 19th century Eugenics movement forming eventually into the main body of Nazism in the form of Adolf Hitler. In the same as Eugenics were under discussion…

Flying Discman from MarsIntroduction

The world needs to put UFOs and Ufology in a radically different perspective. As a culture it is at least as important as the drawings of Piranesi or Michelangelo, or the paintings of Dali or Chirico. What we get from such precious things we can get from the story-architecture of Ufology, which is now an essential part of our postmodern Imagination. Even in the kitchens of the most ardent sceptic there will be some item which owes its shape and character to the UFO, now a big prime-time star in the postmodern universe. As a Big Star, the UFO is as unavoidable as are Elvis Presley, Monroe, Michael Jackson, or the idea of quantum entanglement.

Ufology turns even downright imposture into a species of postmodern art form, showing that the mechanical truth of a story is something of a decoy.

What matters is that the tale is told complete with all its faults and deceptions and the supposed framework of its truths and lies. Any story bar-codes us forever. Despite our acceptances and rejections, we play with story games, we rehearse them, add new episodes even to absurd claims, and despite ourselves again, we continue and develop even the most dubious episodes, whether they are junk theatre or not.

By their works shall ye know them… [Part 4]

This is the fourth and final part of James Carlson’s epic exploration into the many and varied ramifications of the F.E. Warren AFB hoax and Ufology in general. A little later than promised, we are sure you will agree it was worth the wait!

Disclosure imageThe fascinating point that needs to be recognized here is not the fact that Robert Hastings and his like-minded fellow conspirators have concluded that their goals cannot be reliably established as an unrealized yet historical presence, an all-encompassing worldview, without the use of dishonest and false and abrasive, socially regressive tools developed for that singular purpose.  It is the fact that they are very clearly and insistently using as their starting point the assumption of full disclosure as already accomplished history – a history that the USAF, the Department of Defense, and the government of the United States very effectively dismissed and buried in 1969.  Taking into consideration the fact that the character of their mission is essentially one of westernized religious impulse, it becomes very clear that their goals necessitate the redefinition of Washington, DC as the New Rome, with the Pentagon representing the Colosseum, the Amphitheatrum Flavium, an inaugural symbol of Christian martyrdom, and the celebrated birthplace of Christianity’s own eventually triumphant worldview.  Not even this aspect of the foundations of belief that are being forged upon the emotive consciousness of a social psyche being manipulated by the strategic planting of lies is a very original concept, however.  Washington, DC as the New Rome is a powerful theme stressed within the same complex dynamics of social engineering in the numerous works of science fiction author Philip K. Dick.  The ascension of religious symbology and its subsequent influence on human belief is a common tool with historical relevance for those desiring to harness the commitment and energy of aggressive faith in order to make real their own desires.  More importantly, if the effects of religious impulse have taught the world anything, it is that idealists are most dangerous to those around them when they make the decision to forsake morality in order to ensure that their vision of history is the only one addressed to future generations.  In direct contrast to Hastings and his professional cohorts, most men of ethics simply find it abhorrent to withhold sufficient information to reach valid conclusions, and then tell you what you should believe and demand of others on the basis of that purposely instituted ignorance.  At its most primal level, it is this compulsion to control the opinions and motivations of others that drives men like Robert Hastings to assert such malignant hostility in pursuit of their own goals.

Paranoia imageThe true nature of their compulsion is obvious:  Hastings and his paranoid interests are trying to ignite a common, fearful demand for full disclosure; they have consciously elected to fill the minds of as many individuals as possible with fear and paranoia in regard to the unknown.  They are doing this for political reasons, having convinced themselves that full disclosure is an absolute necessity.  It is not.  It is merely an arbitrary goal born of religious impulse with the same type of emotive conviction behind it.  Although their faith that the results of this disclosure will make clear and establish for all time the existence of extraterrestrial interference on this planet we inhabit may be a conviction they refuse to discard, it is nonetheless misplaced.  It has failed to justify the single and restless burst of anger that followed the United States Air Force’s very general dismissal of UFO claims in 1969, just as it has failed to justify their self-serving belief that full disclosure will eventually negate all of their exhibited impotence and their inability to make concrete the willful, blanketed collusion of that belief and their faith.  They cannot establish the fruits of their claims by their own efforts and have convinced themselves that this failure is the fault of others; they are not to blame for their weaknesses, because the USAF and the Department of Defense have effectively hidden the truth from them, establishing thereby an occultic authority.  It isn’t even relevant that their failures are the result of their own acts and their inability to establish anything more substantial than rumor and innuendo and consistent failure to realize any genuine goals.  When examined from an objective point of view, they have nothing in the absence of conviction, and it is for that reason alone that they rely on subjective viewpoints based entirely on conviction, and nothing else.

The only other socially relevant human experience that can be described in this way is our very human reliance on religious impulse.  The aggressive instincts commonly raised by these issues are due to the mistaken yet resolute conviction that this is a discussion best suited for scientific assessment.  It is not.  There is no scientific assessment capable of resolving this issue for the same reason that there is no scientific assessment capable of resolving the issues raised in regard to beliefs establishing life after death or how best to approach the concept of immortality in a finite universe.  These UFO true believers have created from nothing an issue that relies almost entirely on antiauthoritarian developments and expressions raised throughout the 1960s and early 1970s and washed in the explosive anger, selfishness, and fiscal irresponsibility of the 1980s and 1990s.  It is a social movement that they have failed completely to validate or otherwise objectify for the rest of the world, and they are now reacting in the only way possible that will still enable them to believe in some measure of personal, scientific accomplishment.

By their works shall ye know them… [Part Three]

This is a continuation of James Carlson’s fascinating essay exploring the many and varied ramifications of the 2011 F.E. Warren AFB UFO Hoax. In Part One, James guided us through the blurred reality of the Robert Hastings “Reuters” Press Release, along with a thorough explanation of the F.E. Warren AFB hoax and the methods used by Hastings in order to further his agenda. In Part Two, James explained the real reasons behind the use of anonymous sources and concludes by examining the true motives of those behind the hoaxes.

Part Three continues below with another hard-hitting and refreshingly honest view from James Carlson.

Liar LiarI am currently exploring the numerous works of a select few UFO authors and investigators widely connected to the events they’ve attempted to manufacture and chronicle; they call themselves UFOlogists, so I shall too.  I believe the evidence is plentiful enough to establish their membership in an informal coalition, a loose cabal of similar minded individuals who have shown themselves more than willing to lie, to dissemble, to disable context in order to neglect content, to knowingly reach unsubstantiated conclusions on the basis of faulty information, to remain silent in regard to the known lies and errors in fact committed by other members of the coalition, and to express public support for the unsubstantiated conclusions of these same individuals in order to establish a united front against criticism and to forge a false aura of infallibility surrounding their enterprises and the value of their claims.  These individuals are united by their singular motivation for the deceit they have practiced:  they want to convince the world at large that USAF and DoD officials were knowingly lying when they insisted for years that UFOs as defined by J. Allen Hynek do not exist and are therefore not a threat to the security of the United States of America.  It’s that simple.

Their habits are notable to anyone paying attention to what they do and having the will to examine the same witnesses and evidence that they have made the subject of their claims.  Primarily, they convince those willing to be convinced by showing a united front, giving the false appearance of infallibility by assuming a point of view with vested opinions held by numerous “scholars” and “scientists” and “journalists” and “military witnesses” and “historians” from all over the world, supposedly “independent” minds reaching a natural accord on the basis of well-studied facts and consistent claims.

In actuality, this showboating is simply a pathetic lie that results from their collaborative failure to examine with any honesty the assertions and claims made by those who hold opinions of public regard for their own work and claims.  In other words, they refuse to criticize or otherwise examine the impact of bad research, false justifications, poorly established conclusions and blatant lies whenever such poorly integrated tales and inundations of wasted hours at a word processor support the general tone and structure of their own works and/or beliefs.  By resorting to such tepid strategies, they replace the common standards of peer review with worthless head nodding like nodding dogs on a particularly bumpy road [thanks to Stephen Broadbent for the markedly visual phrase].

Many examples of this behavior and other details of these somewhat erratic attempts to manufacture history will be discussed over the next few weeks in a series of articles divulging the machinations of the like-minded members of this cabal as the clearest method to reveal and condemn their methods.  They are legion, and that fact necessitates a more structured approach to the claims they’ve made.  It insists that relationships be explored and resonant claims appealing more to a unified vision than to actual events be dissected in order to discover the few facts they’ve either tried to hide because they reveal the dishonest core of their claims, or carelessly addressed without knowing the ultimate cost such claims would eventually weigh against their integrity and the worth of their claims.

One example of this behavior, however, will be presented now, because I want to define this aspect of their preferred methodology due to the reliance on its use being so common within the group that it can be measured and calculated upon their own aggressive allegations.  Basically, the act is universal and simple:  when one member reacts to criticism of his own personal claims by changing specific details of his story, other members of this united coalition act as if there were no changes made whatsoever.  They simply agree with whatever the current story on the record is.  The practice is, as I’ve said, common, and for that reason is easily established, and its purpose easily revealed.

Robert JamisonFor example, when Robert Jamison claimed that UFOs were reported over Malmstrom AFB in correlation with his claims in regard to Oscar Flight missile failures alleged by Robert Salas, members of the cabal were notable and united in their insistence that reports of UFOs over Malmstrom AFB supported Jamison’s claims, and thereby Salas’.  This was accepted as evidence of mutual claims asserted, and was discussed as acceptable evidence of an actual event by other members of the group, such as Richard M. Dolan, author of “A.D. After Disclosure: The People’s Guide to Life After Contact”.  Dolan, in fact, found the measure of worth so valuable, that he later insisted the evidence for Salas’ Oscar Flight claims surpassed even those Salas has addressed for an Echo Flight incident, even though there has never been presented any documented evidence or reasonable assessment of any such event having ever occurred at Oscar Flight.  The circular perambulations these people rely on to make such a weak point could carve tornadoes into the sun.

Unfortunately for those claims, Oscar Flight is at least a hundred miles away from the UFOs reported at Malmstrom AFB, which couldn’t possibly be used to reflect any related claims whatsoever.  When this became public knowledge as a result of critical assessments, Robert Jamison changed his story (not for the first time nor the last) and announced that UFOs were reported over Lewistown in correlation with his claims in regard to the same Oscar Flight missile failures.  He dutifully drafted a new affidavit for Robert Hastings to use and the event was thereby set in stone, another worthless claim for the insensible few who weren’t paying attention to first principles.  Following this, members of the cabal acted as if there was no change at all in his story, and simply insisted that the UFO reports over Lewistown had confirmed Jamison’s claims.

By their works shall ye know them… [Part 2]

In Part 1 of By Their Works Shall Ye Know Them, James Carlson guided us through the blurred reality of the Robert Hastings “Reuters” Press Release, along with a thorough explanation of the F.E. Warren AFB hoax and the methods used by Hastings in order to further his agenda. Displaying an eerie resemblance to the methods used by Scammers Inc. in their attempts to propagate the discredited Project Serpo story, James now continues with his explanation of why Anonymity must be examined in accordance with its purpose – that purpose being the creation of a myth.

The first step in this process, of course, is to question why anonymity has been relied upon in the first place.  After all, this isn’t the 1960s, and anonymity isn’t necessary in most cases – not when there’s a gamut of whistleblower protection laws intended to protect such individuals.  The point is, in most cases – particularly in the military where official acts are only rarely independent of command justification – anonymity is unnecessary.

It does, however, establish the proposition that the individual is either afraid of retaliation, or afraid of having his name associated with claims that are untrue.

In this particular case, Hastings is using anonymous sources to affirm the following points:

1.         The U.S. Air Force lied when it insisted that the communications breakdown at F.E. Warren AFB lasted only 59 minutes.  According to Hastings’ anonymous sources, “the communications issue, while intermittent, actually persisted over several hours.”

2.         These same anonymous sources reported that there were sightings by “numerous teams” of an enormous, cigar-shaped craft that maneuvered high above the missile field on the day of the disruption.  “The huge UFO appeared similar to a World War I German Zeppelin but had no passenger gondola or advertising on its hull, as would a commercial blimp.”

3.         These same anonymous sources also allegedly reported “that their squadron commander has warned witnesses not to talk to journalists or researchers about ‘the things they may or may not have seen’ in the sky and has threatened severe penalties for anyone violating security.  Consequently, these persons must remain anonymous at this time.”

Any review of current whistleblower protection laws and military regulations, however, not only insists that the third statement regarding the need for anonymity is completely untrue, but that any honest indications that the first two statements were true are protected by federal law should they be revealed by those with actual knowledge of the events.  Moreover, if those events can substantiate an ordered and progressive attempt by the Air Force to establish in the public mind a system of national defense that does not, in fact, exist, the justification for exposure of that fact increases significantly.   With this in mind, it’s very difficult to conceive of any valid reason for anonymity if this incident really happened as Robert Hastings has described it.  Any revelation by parties involved would be protected by federal law, making any retaliation of the type he suggests – these “threatened severe penalties for anyone violating security” – an illegal act, particularly if the UFO that his alleged sources have described had anything at all to do with the missile failures, as Hastings obviously wants the world to conclude.  In fact, any examination of this incident leaves one with the unmistakable impression that actual anonymity would only be useful if the claims being established were untrue.

The facts are very clear.  Robert Hastings has once again shown the world that he lacks the necessary substantive knowledge of security protocol to convincingly make claims of UFO interference during actual military incidents.  His foolishness is persistent, but that doesn’t make it believable.

British UFO Files: Over 8500 new pages released by The National Archives

The National ArchivesThe National Archives yesterday released their largest batch of UFO information to date, with over 8500 new pages now available to download at their website.

Following on from six previous releases, the last one being in August last year (2010), the latest files cover the years 2000-2005 and contain information regarding sightings and reports and document “how UFOs became a global issue, discussed by the highest levels of government around the world, including the United Nations, the US Central Intelligence Agency and Britain’s House of Lords.”

The files have been sorted into categories and are supplemented by a Highlights Guide and a Research Guide by Dr. David Clarke. it is largely thanks to the efforts of Dr. Clarke and other researchers that the Ministry of Defence were persuaded to release their UFO files starting back in May 2008 – an action that has since been replicated by other Governments and agencies throughout the world.

The Categories

• Files released under the Freedom of Information Act

• Parliamentary interest in UFOs

• Government Policy on UFOs

• UFO sightings and Reports

• Sighting reports by geographical location

Help I’ve been abducted

One of the more amusing reports contained in the files concerns a London man who believed he had been abducted by aliens. The man had apparently witnessed an aircraft hovering above his house one evening in October 1999.

He awoke the next morning and realised he had experienced some missing time during the night.

“The MoD responded to his letter stating the aircraft was likely to have been an airship and that the clocks had gone back an hour that night which would account for him gaining an hour”.

[File DEFE 24/1999 (p106)]

Another report details a student hoax from 1967 which involved Four police forces, bomb disposal units, the army and the MoD’s intelligence branch. Engineering students from Farnborough Technical College had come up with the idea as part of their rag-day celebrations. [File DEFE 24/1986]

Close to home

One of the files grabbed my attention, when I realised it dealt with my very first UFO sighting as a twelve year old back in 1978! Some friends and I witnessed what appeared to be something burning high up in the atmosphere. A lot of people gathered outside in the street to see but no one had any idea what it was. Being young and naive, we decided it must have something to do with aliens and thought no more about it. Actually that’s not true, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve often wondered what it was but thought I’d never find out. Thanks to this latest release, it turns out the sighting can be put down to space “junk” re-entering the earth’s atmosphere and causing a flurry of UFO reports in the process. [DEFE 24/2048 (p108-138)]

It’s a conspiracy!

Along with the “usual” standard UFO reports contained in the files, there are some that will give plenty of ammunition to the conspiracy theorists who believe there has been a cover-up by governments around the world with regard to the UFO phenomena.

The HMS Manchester UFO

One of these such cases details an alleged UFO sighting by crew members of HMS Manchester and other Royal Navy ships during an exercise off the coast of Norway in 1998/99. In a letter to the Ministry of Defence on 24th September 2002, (now deceased) Lord Hill-Norton writes:

Dear Lord Bach,
You will know of my keen interest in reports of incidents involving unidentified aerial
craft, especially where such incidents involve the military, and are self-evidently
therefore of defence significance.

I have recently been informed of one such incident which involved HMS Manchester.
Apparently the ship encountered an unidentified craft during a naval exercise, with
several hundred people in Manchester and other HM ships witnessing the event. At
the same time, personnel on a Norwegian naval ship tracked the object on radar and
were openly discussing the incident on the Operations Room communications
network.

The ex-RN person who has recounted this incident is unsure of the precise date on
which it occured, but is reasonably certain that it fell between either 26th October and
6th November 1998 or 8th February and 3rd March 1999.
I ask, therefore, that you arrange for HMS Manchester’s log to be searched for
reference to this incident, and for copies of any such pages to be sent to me.

Aside from the fact the ex Royal Navy person could not remember if the incident happened a couple of months before or after the Christmas of only four years previous, it is surprising that mention of the alleged incident had not made it into the mainstream already. Several hundred witnesses is a lot more than is usually the case for UFO sightings and the odds on them all having kept quiet will be very high indeed.

The fuel for this latest conspiracy fire is provided by the answer Lord Hill-Norton received in a reply from Lord Bach at the MoD almost a month later. In it Lord Bach states (in part):

You asked that HMS MANCHESTER’s log [for the periods requested] be scrutinised for references to
unidentified aerial craft sighted by the ship’s company. No such references have been
found in any of the log entries which are available.

Unfortunately, I have to add the rider that HMS MANCHESTER’s log covering the
period 1 Feb until sunrise on 13 February 1999 was lost in Bodo, Norway, during the
deployment. The log was positioned, as is the custom, at the head of the gangway when
the vessel was alongside in port, and an unusually strong gust of wind carried it
overboard. [snip]

The log becoming lost due to a gust of wind is unfortunate. Quite unsurprisingly, this is now being grasped at as evidence that incidents like this are being covered up. The field of UFOlogy is already populated by people who will use anything remotely tangible in order to drive their message home, so the lost log certainly won’t help matters.

However, there is more to this story than some UFO proponents might have you believe. During the course of the search for HMS Manchester’s log, the Directorate Air Staff (DAS) wrote the following on 30th Spetember 2002 in reply to a request for assistance:

As DAS leads on the subject of ‘UFO’, we have checked our database to see if there was any report
made of an incident at sea between 26th October and 6 November 1998 or 8 February and 3 March
1999. We have found no trace of any such incident and would, therefore, be very grateful if you would
undertake appropriate research.

One would expect at least a passing reference in the database for an event that was supposedly witnessed by hundreds. In the “Loose Minutes” communication from DAS to the Ministerial Correspondence Unit, we see that upon discovering the loss of the log, the Commanding Officer of HMS Manchester was contacted by DAS and he “has no recollection of any unusual activity during this or any other depolyment by the MANCHESTER while under his command, that could be construed as involving ‘unidentified aerial craft’.” The same information was given to Lord Hill-Norton in the letter quoted further above. The Loose Minutes document also gives further information regarding the two date ranges given by the anonymous ex-Royal Navy person that triggered Lord Hill-Norton’s request in the first place.

The periods to which Lord Hill-Norton refer cover two seperate naval exercises, between 26 Oct and
6 Nov 98, and 8 Feb and 3 Mar 99. A holding reply was sent by the Minister pending
examination of the relevant log entries by CinCFleet. This search has now been completed.
No reference to any unidentified aerial craft has been found in the ship’s log
for the specified periods. Unfortunately, however, the log for the first part of Feb 99
was lost overboard at Bodo in Norway during the second exercise. The available
record therefore does not begin until 08.26 hours on 13 Feb 99. It is nevertheless well
documented elsewhere that HMS MANCHESTER left Portsmouth on 8 Feb 99 and carried out
weapon training on passage to Bodo in Norway, where she arrived on 12 Feb.

One has to wonder about the motives of the witness who reported the alleged sighting to Lord Hill-Norton in the first place. It was well known in UK UFOlogy circles that the Lord had an active interest in UFOs, having written about them and asked questions about them in Parliament. That no one else – out of hundreds of multi-national witnesses – has ever come forward about the alleged incident is very damaging to the credibility of the “case”, as is the apparent poor short term memory of the witness in question. A UFO incident would certainly stick in the minds of most people. Perhaps this particular witness saw something much less exciting than a UFO fly-by? A log book being blown overboard by a gust of wind, for example. [File DEFE 24/2092 p225]

RendleSHAM Forest Scam: files destroyed

Groan. This is another that is going to run and run. It transpires that a collection of Defence Intelligence files from 1980-82, including files pertaining to the RendleSHAM “incident”, had been destroyed. As if that wasn’t bad enough, other files from the surrounding years had survived.

Officials from MoD warned that if what it called this “apparent anomaly in the records” were made public “it could be interpreted to mean that a deliberate attempt had been made to eradicate the records covering this incident”.

Quite. [File DEFE 2026 p182]

Whichever side of the fence you are on, these files are certainly worth the download. They are available for free for one month, after which a small fee applies.

“Mr. Non-Lethal” Discloses Aviary’s Most Closely Guarded Secret?

Followers of this blog and RU’s investigations in general may recall that last year around this time, Ryan posted a fascinating interview with John Alexander entitled Mr. Non-Lethal With Many Hands in Many Pots and noted with some frustration that…

John was evasive and ignored a number of the questions – in a few cases the most important ones.

I, as well as a number of others I suspect, agreed that Ryan had just cause to be highly skeptical of John’s answers (or more precisely, the lack thereof) and in fact I had some much harsher words of my own for him as noted in the forum thread linked to in that article for those who may be interested. I was particularly critical of his support of the Roswell Myth.

That Was Then, This is Now

Since then John’s anticipated new book UFOs: Myths, Conspiracies, and Realities has now been published and Popular Mechanics has published a brief interview with him that highlights John’s “disclosure” of the fabled “working group”…

Col. John Alexander Plants UFO Doubts in New Book: Exclusive Interview

Q: Why was the Advanced Theoretical Physics Group organized, and what did it accomplish?

A: We thought there was probably a black program on UFOs somewhere in government, and those involved would probably be willing to work with a group that had appropriate clearances and could help disseminate information. What we found out, of course, was that there was no program and that information collection was pretty much ad hoc.

I’ve now read the book and while I believe it falls far short of full disclosure of the Aviary’s true motivations and the extent of their actions, and perhaps could be criticized as an attempt to restore some credibility to some of the individuals involved in what is affectionately referred to here at RU as Scammers Inc, I will say this…

Buy this book!

I am encouraged by the all too rare move to intellectual honesty that Mr. Alexander expresses through his authoritative rejection of a number of popular UFOlogical “sacred cows” including Roswell, MJ-12 and Area 51 and I think this may turn out to be an important book… or not. At the very least it makes for some good entertainment and presents a formidable challenge for those who wish to continue to profit from the “reality” of a vast UFO conspiracy. If anybody could have got their foot in the door if one existed, I can’t say that I know of anybody with a more appropriate background more determined to do so. The introduction from Burt Rutan and commentary by Tom Clancy is worth the price of admission alone.

That said, John, we need to talk.

From the prologue…

UFOs are real! With no prevarication or qualification of terms, there are physical objects of unknown origin that do transit our universe. The evidence that supports those statements is simply overwhelming. That evidence includes both hard data collected via multispectral sensors and from high-quality eyewitnesses that are neither misreporting facts nor delusional.

And…

Any so-called skeptic that states, “There is no hard evidence to support the existence of UFOs,” is simply wrong! What he or she really means is that they haven’t taken the time to seriously review the data, and most likely you can infer that they aren’t about to start now.

It should be noted only one sentence of the 1976 Tehran case (a teletype sent by the DAO in Tehran as a matter of routine foreign intelligence) that was given as an example of material the ATP had “exclusive” access to was initially classified and that was at the CONFIDENTIAL level because it involved sources and methods and if cases like Bentwaters (Rendlescam Forest), Cash-Landrum, the Coyne Incident (Mansfield, Ohio), the Phoenix Lights, Gulf Breeze (Bruce Maccabee), and Malmstrom (Robert Hastings and Salas) he discusses in the chapter “REAL CASES AND HARD DATA” is the best evidence John has, I’m afraid I see nothing new here in the way of “data” to review.

No one has to convince this skeptic UFOs are real! I already know sometimes people (myself included) see things in the sky they can’t identify but where’s the evidence that establishes UFOs “transit our universe”? To his credit, John acknowledges there’s no physical (“multispectral sensor”) evidence of objects of unknown origin entering and exiting our atmosphere from outer space but then he handwaves it away with the following rationalization…

At a minimum it appears that these enigmatic objects have a capability to manipulate physical reality in manners that we have yet to comprehend. That does not make them less real, just more difficult to explain.

Well John that kind of does, if they can be picked up by our sensors (e.g. eyes) but not any others, seems to me it’s either not really an object of unknown origin or it’s not really there. But, I digress…

I do like this book. It’s definitely a step in the right direction and John should be congratulated for it.

Alfred Webre on Telepathy and the Oil Spill:

“ Examiner.com has documented the operational existence of Tesla-based teleportation as an operational technology for transporting goods and people over distances in the classified U.S. defense projects. Likewise preliminary evidence has established the existence of U.S. space vehicles using anti-gravity energy and other advanced propulsion systems.
The U.S. government has historically classified teleportation exclusively as a weapons technology, for transporting troops to battle locations, or personnel and goods between secure military bases.
The environmental, economic and social impacts of the BP oil leak operation may mobilize public awareness and political will to transform this policy decision, and make teleportation available for civilian use, worldwide.
How the BP oil leak operation may affect extraterrestrial disclosure, either by governments or by specific extraterrestrial civilizations themselves, is an unknown “wildcard.”
One researcher has taken the view that a grey and reptilian-based extraterrestrial hyper-dimensional alliance is concerned about humanity because of our propensity to environmental degradation. The researcher highlights an environmental catastrophe as the trigger for open relations between humanity and the greys and grey-human hybrids. He states, “If these accounts of salvation are true, then the aliens’ message is clear: After the catastrophe, whatever it is, takes place, the late-stage hybrids and perhaps the aliens themselves will engage in a general integration into human society. As one hybrid told [contactee] Claudia Negron, ‘Soon all life will be changed. People will be different.’ Presumably, we will all live in peace and harmony. About Webre’s book “Recovery,” his wife writes:

“I see this book as a journey and as a work of courage. Alfred Webre is my husband and soul mate. Through the time we’ve spent together I’ve watched him wage a battle, sometimes fierce and unsettling, with the mental illness that has plagued and enriched his life. At the depths of one of his depressions I suggested that he update one of his books, “The Age of Cataclysm” and perhaps write a book on his personal journey through manic-depression. My thinking at the time was he needs something to focus on and give him some purpose. That was in July shortly after “God” died and left Alfred both, devastated and exhilarated. He and I had been working together to come to grips with his attraction to cults and to move into a state of recovery. This was a task I felt well prepared for as I had done a great deal of “exit therapy” over the years with a variety of cult members.”

In other words, Alfred Webre had to be deprogrammed by his wife. He should go down on his knees and thank the gods that it wasn’t his mother-in-law.

The Cult Consumer Cometh: Totems in Cyberspace

Laura Eisenhower being chatted upLaura Eisenhower being chatted up by Exopolitical suitors.Mr X is in the middle, Basiago to the left, and Webre to the right.

Pushing the Envelope

First, let us get rid of any idea that Alfred Webre is insane. As a brilliant man with a rather battered but ofttimes equally brilliant public record, he knows exactly what he is doing. The same could be said of his colleague Michael Salla, another clever man who has been thrown out of many academic posts because of his views on the supposed presence of extraterrestrial aliens and their influence on human culture.

First let’s take a look at the backgrounds of these two men:

Alfred Webre is the author of Exopolitics: Politics, Government and Law in the Universe. He is a Fulbright Scholar and holds degrees from Yale University, Yale Law School (Yale Law School National Scholar), and the University of Texas Counselling Program. He has taught Economics at Yale University (Economics Department) and Civil Liberties at the University of Texas (Government Department), and has been a futurist at Stanford Research Institute.

As Senior Policy Analyst in 1977 at the Center for the Study of Social Policy at Stanford Research Institute (now “SRI International”, Menlo Park, California), Webre was Principal Investigator for a proposed civilian Scientific Study of Extraterrestrial Communication, that is interactive communication between the terrestrial human culture and that of possible intelligent non-terrestrial civilizations. Webre is the only Exopolitician with such views to get near the White House. This proposed Study was presented to and developed with interested White House staff of the Domestic Policy staff of President Jimmy Carter during the period from May 1977 until the fall of 1977, when it was abruptly terminated. The Carter White House denied Exopolitical studies see http://www.ufoevidence.org/documents/doc944.htm

Dr. Michael E. Salla has held academic appointments in the School of International Service, American University, Washington DC (1996-2001), and the Department of Political Science, Australian National University, Canberra, Australia (1994-96). He taught as an adjunct faculty member at George Washington University, Washington DC., in 2002. He is currently researching methods of Transformational Peace as a Researcher in Residence in the Center for Global Peace (2001-2003) and directing the Center’s Peace Ambassador Program which uses transformational peace techniques for individual self-empowerment. He has a PhD in Government from the University of Queensland, Australia, and an MA in Philosophy from the University of Melbourne, Australia.”

Those folk with a still-intact sense of wonder might try these following two pieces of work for size, from Webre and Salla respectively. We note that the first contains a failed prophecy, and the second absolutely spectacular bullshit. The only good thing that can be said about these opinions is that they represent a new kind of what used to be called Theatre of the Absurd.

Extraterrestrial False Flag Operation.

“A whistleblower has recently emerged alleging secret preparations are underway for a false flag operation to justify a military response to “alien invaders” by August 2007. The whistleblower claims that s/he was asked “to write up ‘spin’ and propaganda that would help win the country’s leaders over to our new ‘war effort’” against extaterrestrials. The whistleblower posted his/her message at the Above Top Secret forum and has generated immediate interest by many (see: http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread288370/pg1 ). While the whistleblower’s statement appears plausible at first hand, there really is little need to demonise extraterrestrials to justify a false flag operation if an upped military response is desired by those in control of extraterrestrial related information. The extraterrestrial abduction literature is so pervasive and dominant in UFO studies that it has created a set of powerful cultural stereotypes of extraterrestrials. The primary stereotype is that of advanced “alien geneticists” performing a range of invasive medical procedures to abducted women with the aim of creating a future hybrid race to replace current humanity.”

And here is Salla:

An Exopolitical Perspective on the Preemptive War Against Iraq

“The political paradigm to be used in this paper is based on ‘exopolitics’. This paradigm starts with the premise that there exists an extraterrestrial (ET) presence on Earth which clandestine government organizations have been withholding knowledge of from the general public and elected public officials. Rather than being an unsubstantiated ‘conspiracy theory’ with little relevance to contemporary policy issues such as a pre-emptive US war against Iraq, it will be argued that an exopolitical analysis can provide a more comprehensive understanding of what motivates the Bush administration in launching a pre-emptive attack against Iraq.”

http://www.nwprogressive.org/weblog/2008/07/local-conservative-think-tank-spokesman.html

The single word “futurist” in Webre’s curriculum vitae is enough to sow suspicion that Exopolitics is a structured collection of synthesised nerve-centre memes, no less. It might just have occurred to a very clever chap such as Webre are not getting to the top by pre-digital frontal assault, why not, using the new technological means available after Jimmy Carter’s Presidency, make a meme-borne worm which will do the job?  After all, knocking on the doors of Authority is a pretty old-fashioned very non-futurist and largely non-productive action.

Now here is where the plot goes deep, dirty, and suspicious.

Webre was (is) an acknowledged futurist. He has been in that game far longer than many senior Ufologists, and as a futurist he would necessarily have been completely familiar with the work and ideas of Marshall McLuhan and Buckminster Fuller, to name but two influential futurists. From Scientology to modern Consumer theory, from Artificial Intelligence studies to the work of Ray Kurtzweil, it has been suggested that it might be possible to model entire brains and indeed entire worlds in terms of Product modelling. This expresses the idea of a culture rising from a basic kit of archetypes, reminiscent of Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein.

Her idea is now fully realised in the DNA lab.

But after his (understandable) failure at the White House, Webre might just have asked himself could the same principles be realised in terms of those particular ideas which form belief structures?

Now it so happens that both Webre and Salla are very clever meme engineers. Just like L. Ron Hubbard who created Scientology, Webre and Salla went on to create  a synthetic mythology which, as we shall see, rivals Scientology somewhat in its aims and practices. Their work is interesting if only that it shows how the structure of Web-born mimetic worms may be designed. Such worms have viral properties which can be seen quite clearly in the psycho-social culture dish. In this sense they are “intelligent” forms of non-carbon life, just as is an image in our heads of Marilyn Monroe, or any one other of millions of such sparkling harpies.

Exopolitics represents no less, a new form of viral programming. This can easily evolve into a new form of social control. It consists largely of fantasy and entertainment whose image-based symbolic structure is easily manipulated by Big Media and rampant Consumerism as regards exploitation of belief.

Such “intelligent” forms of dosed information are easy to insert into a dumbed-down society whose media-soaked heads are on the verge of cultural disintegration. For example, we might look at Sergeant Stone’s “57 varieties of Extraterrestrial Alien” on http://www.combat-diaries.co.uk/diary30/heinz.htm

Looking at them as new kinds of cyber-animal, we might ask how do these worms “think?” To answer this question we must get rid of almost every single idea concerning so-called “Artificial Intelligence” we have ever had. We should also throw out all ideas about what is termed “communication theory.” Present ideas concerning robotics and automation are based on accretion of mechanical complexity. What we call “thinking” here is represented by the active “recognition” of “factual” elements and the integration of this into other programmed vectors formed by paradigms based on mechanised input and output schedules. The result is nothing more than a collection of clever spanners.

Our Exopolitical Webot is a very different creature which can create parasitical image-forms in the imagination of willing customers.

As I showed in my article “Meme Wars we Have an Agenda” the Web has given birth to many digitised forms of non-carbon life which do not think in terms of mechanical analogues. It might depress serious Left-intellectuals and Guardian-style social-democratic liberals, but our déclassé Exopolitical Webot here “thinks” like a Tesco manager or his Walmart equivalent. As such managers know, quantities and “facts” come very much second to image appeal. Customers will accept and buy inferior goods if they have the right image. Therefore we are all consuming the image as well as the food, which becomes a somewhat secondary thing. In the case of Exopolitics, our highly structured Webot has succeeded in inserting a parasitical form of image-life into many minds. Again, as the managers of the silver screens know, manipulation is all about images. Like Marilyn and the host of other harpies like her, our Exopolitical worm is a fast breeder, and like her again, it has an infinite longevity. Should we not believe that, we should try getting rid of Marilyn in the head. It is impossible. Like her or hate her, she is there forever. Despite ourselves, we act and talk with her, we will write for her, produce films and plays for her, and we will dream of her as if we were sixteen again and a hustler on the make looking for the best chance.

This Marilyn pseudo-world will be experienced in the fragmented forms of dreams, intuitions, and what the playwright Eugene Ionesco called nostalgia mysterieux.

Together with many others like her, she will pursue us beyond our deathbed.

Marilyn, like the synthetic body of Exopolitics, is a worm.

Though she has been inserted as a fast-breeder programme by a very different technology to that of Exopolitics, the principle is the same. The inserted images will breed as self-replicating clones and any “facts” will fall away like supports from a newly-launched ship. Such multi-dimensional worms are image-based programmes with Matrix-style optional sub-texts. They can be designed to insert any particular target programme into Prime Time conscious and form an important focus of Mind. The result of such operations is the Exopolitical (supposed) alien, who is now no less a “star” than Marilyn Monroe.

By analogy, such an extraterrestrial alien is now a possible worm in the liminal stage of embryonic development. Like Monroe, Michael Jackson or Elvis, the alien is now neither real nor unreal. In terms of Big Media product-gestation, the extraterrestrial alien is under construction.

This idea gives an entirely new meaning to the concept of “disclosure.” For “disclosure” we may now read collective “sanction.” In the manner of TV soap development, in 2010 we now allow things to happen in such series which if they had happened in 1950s would have sent us straight to the hangman’s noose.

Therefore the answer to physicist Enrico Fermi’s question “where are they?” is: “the alien is under construction.”

In the Fortean sense, this new paradigm replaces absolute fact versus absolute fiction with scales of permissibility controlling schedules of allowances.

The Dialectic

Some parts of the operational technique used by our Exopolitical Webot remain somewhat old fashioned. They reflect elements picked up from the psychological tactics of dialectical materialism, no less. These Cold War Communist tactics (also used by Maoist China) were based on rebuilding commonly received dictionaries in heads, see Orwell’s idea of “Newspeak” in the novel 1984.These programmes (and dictionaries were the very first cultural “programmes”), contained certain words which were picked from a very narrow range of reference. These new word-groups formed a mantra, and the repetition of some kind of mantra is to be found in every world religion and every political philosophy.

The object of this technique (see The Manchurian Candidate) is to change the very metaphorical frame of perception by introducing a new narrative with a new and complete vocabulary. Thus we go from the holiness of the proletariat to fully conscious praise of the extraterrestrial alien and the wonders he is bring to Earth culture. We can see this technique in operation in the passage from Salla quoted above. He goes from perfectly ordinary discourse smoothly in the new “alien” narrative as if he is talking to a neighbour over the garden wall about the differences between cabbages and turnips. Thus is a seamless robe constructed, and utterly fantastic elements inserted into common dialogue with no bother at all. It is matter of dialectical scaling. By reducing anomalies to “ordinary” terms we can more readily introduce them into consciousness without any blood flowing at all.

People who lived in Germany in the earliest years of the Hitler regime reported on the sudden appearance of the word “Jew” in any and every kind of conversation. As distinct from Exopolitician David Icke (who IS racist!), there is absolutely no evidence that either Webre or Salla are racist or anti-Semitic in any way. However, they do wish to change the narrative in a way which might have been admired by a severally reconstructed Dr. Goebbels. Certainly Webre and Salla would both love to see the word “alien” used on all of the major Big Media networks alongside the “news” about the economy, sports and cooking tips. For example, the word “gay” has moved into prominence in the same way.

Thus do we demythologise as much as we mythologize in turn according to programmable allowance-schedules.

In these terms, our extraterrestrial alien is already knocking on what Aldous Huxley called The Doors of Perception.

The God-Agenda

Our Internet-born,  Exopolitical Webot is of a somewhat “scientific” nature. Both Huxley and Orwell described “scientific” attempts to change popular consciousness. In Orwell’s novel “1984” (pub. 1949), Big Brother interrogator O’Brien has to threaten Winston Smith with physical torture in order to make him toe the party line. We suppose that this meant that ironically, Orwell’s “scientifically” constructed Newspeak (again suspiciously similar to Scientology) was a failure. By contrast, in “Brave New World” (pub. 1932) Huxley proposed that what he called the “pleasure principle” would be far more effective than physical threats.

Huxley’s prophecy was the better one. He was the first to suggest that god-programmes could be manufactured by mass media.

Creating a Maker is of course an art form and not everybody can do it, but basically constructing a god-agenda is fundamentally no different to designing a good TV commercial break. Off-the-shelf components can be used, and the art of god-making is rather like the art of good cooking: you have to get to get the right things in the right proportions at the right time and temperature.

First to make your god (and the extraterrestrial alien is now an acknowledged god within Exopolitical belief), you must narrow the general vocabulary of the target audience. Second, you must tune this vocabulary to refer only to a certain chosen range of products, whether they be Jesus or tins of baked beans.

Cults (and Exopolitics is very much a cult) wilfully attach themselves to these specific vocabularies as articles of Faith. They cling to them as mediaeval pilgrims once worshipped what they supposed were pieces of the True Cross.

In the case of Exopolitics, the “products” of our psycho-social filter are such Prime Time words and phrases as  “airbase,” “nuclear,” “cover-up,” “space, ”abduction,” “whistleblower,” and (of course) “Intelligence Services.” Such words and phrases form a mantra group within the cult of Exopolitics. Additionally, the acronyms CIA, NSA etc form part of an integrated ritualistic emblem around which Exopolitical belief is structured. Such trigger-words induce the gestalt-rites of that particular mysterium called the Military-Industrial-Complex.

When we look at the collage (above) of the Twin Towers ablaze, we can see metaphorically that it was “made” of trigger-words within product emblems as well as your rationalist’s beloved end-stopped bricks and mortar.

Webre, like almost every UFO investigator sooner or later refers to the Pentagon and major US corporations very much as if they constituted such an  emblematic mysterium, which is a kind of technological shrine from which all knowledge flows. Like Stanton Friedman or Bruce Maccabee, having worked at Boeing, Northrop-Grumman or in the US Navy optical science division is a priestly credit-card flash as regards that Prime Time level  called “authenticity.” The Military-Industrial Complex becomes therefore a complete parallel to any kind of temple of worship in history, a veritable Gnostic temple where shadowy archetypal rituals supposedly take place. Thus NASA or Area 51 becomes identical to Kafka’s Castle, or Mervyn Peake’s Ghormangst Trilogy.  For example, Stanton Friedman (the original Victorian Station Master), uses the phrase “nuclear physicist” as a badge of honour, even though he has not done any nuclear physics for nearly forty years, and even then he didn’t do much. Nuclear physics of course is an essential part of any standard physics course at any standard University, so saying that you are a “nuclear physicist” doesn’t mean a lot. But in the world of Big Media that doesn’t matter. This is the way any culture evolves. It is all about images which control the game-play of the silver screens of the so-called “factual” world which is but a necessary stabilising component within our tempestuous realisations.

The Exopolitical propagandists know this only too well.

Let’s look at the dialectical fabric of the top passage from Webre again: the first two paragraphs contain quite a collection of buzz-words and muscular cartoon gosh-golly phrases familiar to all trendy toy-designers, janitor-abductees, retail-Ufologists and all others afflicted by the Thunderbirds-style aura. We know that as soon as we hear of “Tesla-based teleportation,” “classified U.S. defense projects” and “anti-gravity engines,” that we are in the familiar world of Exopolitics. Metaphor falls upon us “Thick as Autumnal Leaves that strow the Brooks In Vallombrosa.” There is not even time to gulp or gasp, or say “‘oil give it foive” before we head for the door of the glittering Exopolitical Emporium with stars in our eyes with a new hi-tech boxed game under our arm. What have we bought? We have bought a bundle of powerful skilfully-engineered totems, no less. But don’t worry – the same thing happens when we buy a magazine with Megan Fox on the cover, or a pack of Post-Toasties, called originally “Elijah’s Manna” – now there’s a good one for the eschatological conspiracists!

In these terms even Stanton Friedman is best seen as a rich glowing Meccano-set superliminal text rather than a discursive discourser. Generally speaking, such “scientists” are beginning to look like worn-out refugees from old East Germany covered in engine-rust and looking lost in a world in which their culture has become very much a poor second compared to Big Media.

The Fatal Attraction

Of course we can’t help but buy Exopolitical sweetmeats as offered. The packing and presentation would make any Tesco manager proud. They are all irresistibly sexy, and every with-it author knows that implicit eroticism and glossy technology make a powerfully attractive mix. With such shaky assurances from the cultural commercial breaks, we are young again that is until we encounter Webre’s second paragraph above. This puts a bit of a shadow over the glowing promises:

“The U.S. government has historically classified teleportation exclusively as a weapons technology, for transporting troops to battle locations, or personnel and goods between secure military bases.”

Wow! What kind of a world are we in here? Open the box. Origami snowflakes representing wondrous speculations burst in our head. We are in a world where there are almost no rules, a world in which we can say anything at all, just like at the old hippy be-ins or group-gropes of the 1960s. A bus is a moth; a cake is a spaceship. Past and future have no meaning; time and endeavour swerve and loop-the-loop. For a short time, we are in get-happy free-fall; this is hardly disturbing we say, because after all, this is how poetry is created.

But then we surely begin to get a little worried as the so-called “real world” makes a somewhat outrageous entrance:

“The environmental, economic and social impacts of the BP oil leak operation may mobilize public awareness and political will to transform this policy decision, and make teleportation available for civilian use, worldwide.”

Webre then goes on to claim quite seriously that:

“…the BP oil leak operation may affect extraterrestrial disclosure, either by governments or by specific extraterrestrial civilizations themselves, is an unknown “wildcard.”

GremlinWild is the word. Our boxed game is now rather like the Gremlins 1 film, with somewhat comic monstrosities bursting through all the cultural screens.

The “grey and reptilian-based extraterrestrial hyper-dimensional alliance” no less will arrive to save us and (as expected), the old New Age hippy messages appear:

“After the catastrophe, whatever it is, takes place, the late-stage hybrids and perhaps the aliens themselves will engage in a general integration into human society. As one hybrid told [contactee] Claudia Negron, ‘Soon all life will be changed. People will be different.’ Presumably, we will all live in peace and harmony. The environment will be healthy and there will be no more war or conflict.”

That any exterritorial aliens may turn out to be super-hippies is optimistic, as Hawkins has pointed out. What Keat’s “Stout Cortez” did to the Amerindians is yet another warning.

Charismatic Soap Bloodlines

Thus in one sentence does Webre try to introduce a new historical narrative full of alien-induced sweetness and light. The shock here is rather like one of those terrifying moments when you meet someone with an over-specialised ferocious intention in life. All such cult converts come out with some highly propagandized cosmic “explanation.” Now it is the extraterrestrial alien! Pubs and bars always contain such damaged banner-waving pariahs. In the old days they spouted Marxism or the Bible or some other cult-coded formulaic “solution” to Richard Adam’s “Life, the Universe and Everything.”

Today old-fashioned “hard” politics have almost gone from the streets. Now an innocent gets pinned against a wall and instead of being told to read the Life of Lenin, they get lectured on the infinite details of junkpop, from Lily Allen’s toe-nails to Michael Jackson’s child-molestations and suppurating cheek bones. A similar hazard of the modern world is to meet some “scientific” person with a Rubik Cube in his hand who talks about “scientific breakthroughs,” or encounter a brilliant and beautiful girl who talks about Cliff Richard’s musical “achievement.” Far worse is to meet a similar creature you fancy who wants to “free” the “poor people” (usually African) by the universal application of Science, Democracy and Socialism. If you haven’t met one of those particular animals, you haven’t lived. Should their shadow fall across your path, any would-be erection vanishes like the proverbial rat up a drainpipe, and you fly home to see which “personality” has been thrown out of the Big Brother House. In this sense, it must be admitted that the Big Media idea of the Universe as Junk is a marvellous antidote against those who have dangerously serious designs upon humanity at large. “Junk” in this sense means that almost everything (including Science)  is now all about styles and images, fashion and Big Media.

TV as the ultimate in Junk Culture has not “done” either Exopolitics or Ufology yet, but then TV gets to everything in time, so watch out – Webre’s astonishing Junk revelations may be waiting for the Big Media version of Exopolitical world history.

The old-fashioned “trip” has undergone reconstruction several times over through generations to become a powerful Big Media tool.

In these terms, Exopolitics represents the ultimate in postmodern consumerist hallucinations. It represents the fine art of creating Junk Culture using over-earnest inspirations concerning such things as the wondrous postmodern collage of Area 51, the story of Roswell and the MJ-12 Papers, the latter now worth about as much as a Bingo-caller’s hernia.

The source of such divine comedy is of course the confusions, misidentifications and absurd expectations made by all human beings when they are gripped by that quite impossible mode called the thinking process. We deceive ourselves even with the intention of scratching our nose.

All cultures are built of advertisements and deconstruction can point to those best-selling miracles of liberating laughter by means of which we mentally navigate.

Me Gone Cargo

The above passage from Webre shows that human cultures are formed and controlled by different kinds of story-technology, such as the “alien” narrative. Some of these story-memes are fantastic and hilarious, others mundane and rational. These “core stories” are totems, these being defined as those sets or clusters of forming principles by means of which human groups organise themselves around some central core of Belief, either mechanical or abstract. As such, totems are pure media manifestations wilfully induced by strong historical conviction as regards religion, royalty, racial/social class /bloodlines/extraterrestrial aliens, or indeed genuine mystical experience. Totems have the widest possible variety of forms: they vary from Christian Cross-worship to virtual worship of TV soap opera characters and glamorous performers in Pop, such as Michael Jackson (RIP), our nearest Western approximation to a god.

Death of course doesn’t matter to a god. We now await the first miracles from Neverland. True to god-like form, and rather like George Adamski’s Orthon and Jesus indeed, both Jackson’s brain and body appear to have vanished completely. Like Jesus again, Jackson has been “seen” in many places, from British fish-and-chip shops to brothels in Las Vegas. That is some Prime Time. Like the extraterrestrial alien, and the “scientist,” Jackson is now passing through the metaphysical stages of the great Consumer Book of the Dead.

Thus our totem can be deeply mystical (belief in a “real” god), or physically ritualistic as with identification with a particular football team.

Like Jackson, the extraterrestrial alien is such a god-form. He is noised poised between Fact and Fiction with the Exopoliticians trying desperately to push the envelope and make him appear everywhere, from fish-and-chip shops to CNN news headlines.

As we have seen in Part 1, Exopolitics can be seen as a meme-formed web-born prototypal entertainment system. It is now steadily morphing into a consumer-led “cargo-cult” mystique, see “Deconstructing the B-29” in my article for UFO Magazine “Putting the Noise Back into the System” http://www.combat-diaries.co.uk/diary30/cargo%20cult%20belief.htm.

In terms of Consumer Anthropology, the pseudo-dead Michael Jackson’s fleeting pseudo-appearances represent the Myth of the Return. In a similar way, Exopolitics represents a “return of the gods” movement fashioned in modern Western terms.

The “aircraft” seen below fashioned by a cargo-tribe is completely analogous to the concept of retro-engineering technology from supposedly crashed UFOs.

Cargo CultsWhat are “cargo cults? After the island-hopping campaign against the Japanese during the Second World War, the America military left behind dumps of any and every kind of material on hundreds of remote islands. After over twenty years of almost no contact with the West, it was found by researchers that the natives had fashioned a religion around abandoned war material such as radios and aircraft parts. They constructed wooden aircraft in imitation of the “real” planes they had seen, and they whispered into the microphones of long-dead radio sets in the manner of “real” operators. In a few cases, some well-preserved batteries would flicker into life, and scrambled “static” sounds (including voice fragments) were heard momentarily from speakers. Trying to convince natives that they had not heard the voice of the “gods” was not a good idea. Since the natives had no such concepts of the levels of mechanical time, any attempted “explanation” that the fragmented voices they had heard were not from the past but  were “random” signals from the present, were ignored.

They were also absolutely fascinated by the labels on millions of abandoned food tins.

“Thus was formed a kind of participation mystique between the natives and the characters and fragments of cartoon lives seen on the cans and food packs. Given a raging war and surrounded by death, there was no one around to try and explain that this homely Norman Rockwell cartoon life portrayed by the labels had already disappeared from mainstream U.S. culture. The almost identical physical proportions of such food packs also aroused great curiosity amongst the natives. This was their first encounter with what we can define as a product range as distinct from a singular thing. Great numbers of almost identical things was a new concept to them.
To the natives, each unit of previous experience had a face, and a unique self and identity. Each individual leaf on a tree had a certain character, as had indeed every grain of sand on the shore. Yet paradoxically, though each of such tins might be identical on the outside, they had certain ranges of differences when opened.

This caused crises with the traditional framework of cognition. The link between uniform faceless precision and sets of different limitless variety was a strange enigma. Seen in terms of cultural time-differentials, the content of the cans represented sustenance and pleasure—the very essence of the subtle magic of cargo whose long-vanished product chain was organized by a transactional mystique just as incomprehensible -as indeed it still is- to most young Westerners of the time as it was to natives.

Illustrated printed material left behind caused further confusion. Ranging from instruction manuals to newspapers and magazines these images showed yet another America – gone were the beautiful blondes and the apple-pie kitchens and shiny technology: here were grim-faced young women working at lathes and milling machines in war factories.

In these terms, the commonly accepted “mechanically objective” real appears to be more like a kind of psycho-social plasma whose structure consists of time-shifted confusions rather than differentiated spines of fact versus fictions.”

I give these examples at length because it is important to realise that the whole and entire modern UFO situation can be extrapolated from these conditions. But generally speaking, Ufology ignores the cargo-cult analogy, if only because it does not put humanity in a very complimentary light. It violates also the “objective” absolute fact versus absolute fiction paradigm which has held Ufology in a stone-age grip ever since it began.

Transformations of the Real: The New Scripts

The ancient magical-participation concept of totem here is used as distinct from the more commonly accepted idea of paradigm, which expresses the idea of an objective intellectual and almost-conscious transformation of cosmology within a culture. The idea of the paradigm has a certain mechanically “scientific” ring of iron logic about it; it fitted the idea of change in a 19th/20th century society where all processes of thought and action had mechanical analogues possessing that time-vector called “moral progress,” whose “morality” usually took the form of slavery, genocide, racism, and environmental disaster. We need not fear the phrase “magical participation” if only because our world is run by magical systems: royalty, religion, Arts, Pop Culture and Big Media are all such forms of image-based participation in that they are not scientifically formed in terms of the concept of “objective fact.”

Nevertheless, people shape and run their entire lives and thoughts by means of such cultures.

Due to the power of Big Media (which has quite replaced the power of Big Brother in our own world), the image, not the fact, is now dominant: everything consists of scripts, acts and performances. Even the “scientists” can be looked upon as rather splendid pieces of baroque rationalist theatre, with their times and angles, charts and statistics. These look very much like the two figures in Hans Holbein’s painting, “The Ambassadors.” In this painting, there arrayed upon the table behind the two ambassadors are the “measuring” instruments of the deep past. These pieces of ancient technology were once articles of faith in a steady-state cosmos which once had that forward-moving time vector called Mechanical Progress, supposedly leaving behind a pit of fools and deluded madmen. We note the skull in the painting as an ironic comment.

The important thing to realise about totems is that they can be readily manufactured. We now have the Product as totem. These baubles, bangles and beads spring to life like Gremlin’s splashed with water. All our essentially postmodern forms of perception are formed by metaphors derived from the idea of the Product. The Product is a Big Brother cosmetic makeover: Orwell’s physically-threatening Hitler/Stalin faces on the screens in the novel 1984 have been transformed into the psycho-social elements of far more gentle techniques of mass-media persuasion, such as above. Such pop-art culture as Product is now the New Estate. Pop elements of all kinds form the sacred part of a transaction ritual, worshipped as once were bits of the True Cross, Proletarianism, Elvis Presley, the no-bra bra, the paperless office, or indeed the claims of MUFON Commissars. The Product as pop art initiates a cool form of cargo-cult inspirations. Each item is worshipped, salivated over like the Shroud of Turin, the MILF Palin, or the Tandoori wallpaper produced by the Hubble telescope.

Despite ourselves, we are “run” by such carefully-inserted image software, whether by  Exopolitics or some other form of Consumer-cult. As such, Exopolitics is such a modern embryonic totem. It is a cool-style form of consumer-inspired designer-led rtailed mystique. Gone from the ideas of “magic” or the “occult”are the unfashionable voodoo chants, juju incantations and tarantula dances of the pre-electronic Ages. Such traditional processing domains regarded as pure information are non-carbon-based life forms which are good at disguising themselves whilst engaged in fresh transformations of totem-mystique. In these terms, Exopolitics is a cleaned-up modern techno-ritual, similar to the “clear” ritualistic techniques of L. Ron Hubbard, but with one big difference: Exopolitics is manipulative image-based story-technology. In this it is far more powerful than anything purely dialectical. Using image structures, belief is always up for grabs. It can be designed, manufactured, packaged and sold in line with Pork Scratchings, Quantum theory, Lady GaGa or Santa Claus.

As a movement, this power makes Exopolitics into a far more interesting thing than being a simple net of very human lies, mental illness, disinformation or psychopathic paranoia. The Projects SERPO, UMMO and Project Camelot, see

And:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCtPy98MN-4

Exopolitical manifestations represent the first big Web-borne modern god-agenda detected since the old analogue disasters of Jonestown or WACO. In this, Exopolitics is Web-borne meme-power with a vengeance.

Had he lived long enough, Michael Jackson for example might have gone in for Exopolitics in a big way if only he might have seen it as superb pop-art. As it is, there will be time for Madonna to abandon her Kabala for Exopolitics and for Lady GaGa to put Webre as a guru into her new video. Other personalities such as Christian fundamentalist Sarah Palin are but two cyber breaths away from Exopolitics. It will become eventually almost irresistible to many of those “personalities” who live already almost entirely in a Jackson/GaGa world.

This is just one of its manifold destinies.

The “facts” of the industrial mechanical world have no meaning within the body of Exopolitics, which contains descriptions of colonies of UFO-abducted Americans on Mars. Goebbels said: “repeat the lie often enough, and it will be accepted” – although the idea of Americans being transported to Mars by means of a DARPA-built time-travel machine might be have proved too exotic an idea even for Dr. Goebbels or Scientology.

The Manipulations

As a Shaman/Trickster/ Entertainment cult, Exopolitics is not above launching rather sinister manipulations using those who happen to have famous surnames, such as Laura Eisenhower. No boiling cauldrons, bats or conical hats of traditional witches – no, this is an art of the cool. Perception is being changed by the use of programmable story-technology.

Here’s how Laura Magdalene Eisenhower was targeted by the Exopolitical “Mars colony” project team, practising deep-fried juju:

“In her statement, Ms. Eisenhower details how Agent X, her principal “handler” from the secret Mars project, eventually confessed to her that “He knew a lot about me from numerous sources that overlapped with one another – from Freemasons, Knights Templar, to this hidden branch of the government that was behind creating this Mars mission. They understood me based on remote viewing and time travel devices and they also seemed to recruit people from the Freemasons and Knights Templar who were well aware of the Magdalene path. They seemed to all be connected, but someone was taking advantage of it all and trying to stay one step ahead of how nature may have unfolded as far as us coming together into Union. I did not know he was an agent until months into the relationship and I later found out that it was them who sent him to find me and it was all a set-up.”

Here’s another  typical victim of a very different type. This one is a similar victim of a different kind of imagist-Consumerism:

“My name is Jaye Beldo and I suffer from Advertising Affective Disorder, or AAD. My affliction results from life-long exposure to advertising. Ronald McDonald haunts me in my dreams and tries to get me to pledge allegiance to the New World Order. The Pillsbury Doughboy claims that he is the messiah and if I don’t worship him he will turn me into dinner rolls. Tony the Tiger waits in the shadows, ready to pounce on me as punishment for trying to think outside the cornflakes box. Palmolive Madge threatens to soak my entire body in dish detergent because I desire world peace. The Charmin Teddy Bear causes me to fight with my girl friend. Every time I try to go to an art exhibition, I see Mr. Clean splashing floor-cleaner onto a painting by Picasso or Van Gogh. Advertising mascots like Joe Camel, the California raisins or the Michelin Tire Man trespass into my brain and demand that I buy their products, or else. It doesn’t matter if the ad aired yesterday or 30 years ago because the icons, logos and jingles continue to torment me 24/7. My sense of time has become grossly distorted. Sometimes my attention span comes in 30 or 60 second ad spots.

Sometimes I wonder if I’m being targeted by the CIA. Or perhaps AAD is the result of some Psy-Ops experiment. Perhaps the NSA is behind it all. If so, I’d like to know who or what my handler is. Could only Madison Avenue know for sure? I believe AAD is a silent killer. If you think you are suffering from AAD, please contact me at the following address: stabinthelight@earthlink.net

Again, in a way similar to Scientology, such victims of both Exopolitical belief and Consumer belief will probably have to be deprogrammed, eventually. Both descriptions of experience sound like the results of an applied MKULTRA programme after being given a modern consumer-led eschatological makeover. The victims are being dosed as if by a re-vamped brand of metaphysical detergent. This is Huxley, rather than Orwell: no drugs, electric shocks or beatings, just an almost pleasant feeling of having lost a particular subliminal edit during a commercial break.

In this, Exopolitics has parallels with the Millennial and Rapture Cults of the deep past. One is also reminded also of the cut movements of Benjamin Crème, the Moonies and Hari Khristina cults. Though it is still too young in the cultural tooth to be regarded anthropologically as a genuine Western cargo-cult, this is almost certainly the final form of Exopolitics.

The God-Agenda

“I do not rely on (David) Icke’s work because he is not a credible source. He has taken some information about Reptoids from the work of Sitchen and others and mixed it with wild-eyed conspiracy theories so as to appeal to the broad and lucrative market of conspiracy buffs, information seekers, and racists. If you want to read about Jewish Reptilian banksters, and Reptilian English royalty dominating humanity, he’s your man. Were you aware that David Icke had a nervous breakdown on live TV in the UK and declared himself to be the son of God? He was banned from speaking in Canada because he is a known racist. The Grays came here and demanded the surrender. The Grays do not use humans as cattle per se. The Grays work for the Reptoids who do use us as cattle.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/prepare4contact/message/2525

The alien-creature situation as described here, though utterly fantastic, is localised in mundane space and time much as is a football match or a bus stop complaint about the weather. Note the precision, the assurance, the quite genuine honest tone. Take away the extraterrestrial alien theme, and the (published) author (obviously highly intelligent and in command of his subject), might well be addressing a sixth-form history class on Gladstone’s three Administrations, the financial reforms of Henry VII or the state of the Grand Fleet in 1914.  The whole set of ideas here is conceived as being unquestionably “real” as the Eiffel Tower or the Statue of Liberty. We note the truly marvellous accusation of falsehood:  Icke’s Reptoids are not quite bone fide. The assumption that one splash of non-existent water is quite different in character and substance to another splash of non-existent water is rather like the Zen illustration of one hand clapping, or the celebrated discussion about how many angels can stand on the point of a pin. Since we are all smears of live bio-paste clinging to a rock flying through space, such specialised distinctions are a wonder surely more great than those fantastical beings called Grays or Reptoids, quite equivalent to the mythological beings of legend such as the Griffin, Centaur, Unicorn, or indeed Anubis, the dog-headed god of ancient Egypt.

Similar statements can be found in the work of Webre, Salla, and Basaigo whose hat-trick is to travel to a supposed human colony on Mars using a secret DARPA time machine! We might add Richard Hoagland to this list, whose Hale Bopp space ship full of Reptoids detected heading for Earth was one of the great hoaxes of the past few years, and created quite a stir in the Ufological community. The only positive effect of this con-trick was to create a magnificent new kind of cosmic entertainment structure which may indeed have been the whole and entire aim of this particular Exopolitical enterprise. As every good manipulator knows, giving people pleasure and amusement is far more effective as persuasion compared to banging would-be consumers on the head.

The Fabricated Totem

The important thing to realise about totems is that they can be manufactured readily. Using modern Web techniques the meme may be seen as a cell of the Web cyber-animal. Using story-technology we can design the internal structure of such an animal, particularly in pop culture, see http://www.gcnlive.com/wp/2010/07/02/popular-music-is-the-babylon-system/

Having noted the certainty and assurance with which Exopolitical statements are made, the whole business smacks of the statements of people who have been subtly manipulated using story technology rather than the traditional manipulation of “facts.” In fairy lore they manipulators are the Tellers of the Tale or Narrators, whose tribal role is as old as Methuselah. Exopolitical experience has such a highly specialised structure drawn from quite specific archetypal image arrays, suggesting that such experience was (and is) indeed quite synthetic in nature. In addition, this particular experience is a thing which contains such manically intense deliberation that we might indeed ask ourselves whether such modern “visionaries” are part of some conspiracy which is trying to create no less a modern psychology of the unconscious involving actors from a highly specialised belief spectrum.

Given such thoughts, it could well be that Exopolitics is some form of hidden prototypal Scientological agenda. The presence of Scientologist Bill Ryan alone as a generating force within the rather goofy Exopolitical Project Camelot is somewhat suspicious. Both Bill and Kerry are friends of David Icke, which is even more suspicious. Every time I hear these names, I grow another pile or (worse), I think I am with Perry Como underneath the mistletoe. Project Camelot has “interviewed” more whistle blowing foil-hat human TV Dinners than Sainsbury’s has sausage rolls. In this sense, some would say that Project Camelot is a fraudulent circus full of lies, disinformation, and rigged impostures that make Webre’s “Seattle Politics Examiner” look positively respectable.

Of course the trouble with such radical accusations is that all thought processes contain such hilarious crap if only as a defence against taking life too seriously and killing our silly selves. We are therefore truly thankful that we can reasonably assume that in order to prevent suicides, any alien culture will contain as much pantomime garbage as Project Camelot. If so, we will have some wondrous existential reference problems to solve if and when aliens arrive. The prospect of one joke system trying to interpret another of the same ilk is interesting. Assuming the aliens have different cultural levels and each one has a joke system full of very different kinds of life-giving absurdity and nonsense-play, the possibilities for wondrous misinterpretation and truly marvellous confusion are profound.

Of course considering Project Camelot again, we might consider that the threat from aliens might not come from their intelligence or their technology but from their stupidity. The idea of an alien equivalent to Project Camelot must surely bring sighs of relief all round.

Scientology and Exopolitics

Though Scientology itself denies any connection with supposed extraterrestrial aliens (see (http://www.scientologymyths.info/aliens/do-scientologists-believe-in-aliens.php), certainly it is at least theoretically possibly that Scientology might well have thought of creating an entirely new Web-born face for its central concept of auditing. Auditing means quite simply taking the mind through a complex meditational calculus theoretically supposed to dump waste and extraneous noise and achieve a better mental focus and control of the thinking process. Similarly, Exopolitics leads us into a synthetic story-continuum of certain highly processed story-lines. Both processes are similar to the Communist dialectical process of politico-scientific indoctrination well described in the classic political novels of Orwell, Huxley and Koestler. In Koestler’s novel Darkness at Noon the basic psychology of Communist methods concerning change of psycho-social perception is outlined. In the case of Exopolitics, the first target-audience for this kind of updated story-technology was the Ufological audience, ever-ready for alien daring-do of any and every kind. In this they have become a host for parasitical meme-swarms of every kind.

In this respect, the whole framework of Exopolitics smacks of Scientological thinking in terms of analogies which might well have been borrowed from that latter culture. Exopolitics is certainly a similar attempt to manufacture a world designed (and design is the key concept here), to replace possibly a broad range of common experience as received au natural. As a postmodern movement, Exopolitics is certainly a lot more exciting than plain old Scientological “auditing,” which is the name of that apparatus for mental control constructed by Ron Hubbard (1911-1986), who was undoubtedly a genius of his day. Hubbard himself claimed always that Scientology was a religion, and certainly he managed to get it registered as a religion in the United States, if not in the United Kingdom. This meant of course that he was in the god-agenda business right from the beginning, with all that means regarding synthetic metaphysics.

Compared to MK 1 Scientology, Exopolitics is visual, dramatic, and perhaps Scientologists discovered Web possibilities from the very earliest days of Internet operation and had decided to construct Exopolitics as a new and exciting dimension of image-auditing suitable for a Web Age. It is possible also that due to the often comical claims and extreme radicalism of Exopolitics, that any New Model Scientology as it were would have to distance itself very much from the Old Model of 1952, which though somewhat digital in itself, was rooted in a pre-digital yesteryear and contained no visual dimension.

After the death of Hubbard, younger Scientological thinkers might have felt that it was time to move on from a rather rigid past. Perhaps such thinkers felt that the first decade of the new century needed visual systems rather than those based on print and literary forms.

It would not have taken a very bright creature such as Hubbard long to see that the emerging Age was going to be an experience based on images mounted by the rapidly increasing power of Big Technology and  Big Media. Despite some extremely objectionable personal characteristics, Hubbard might also have been bright enough to see that that Big Science (as General Groves of Los Alamos called it) might stumble alongside Big Media and be reduced to a technological support base for the mounting of powerful image-based theologies rather discovering “objective facts.” Thus possibly were the Scientological-cum-Exopolitical god-agendas constructed, if only by analogy.

The word “constructed” here is used because in the decade after the death of Hubbard the idea of constructing “imagined” worlds and inserting them into the running narrative of the core stories arrived. The idea was not new. Propaganda disguises itself, goes through its own propagandistic development. In the pre-digital world, we had plain “propaganda,” then “dramatised documentary,” and (a little later) a thing called “faction.” All these different experimental levels of electronic communication succeeded one another in a very short time due to the almost vertical acceleration of electronic progress.

With the appearance of the early Internet the concept of “disinformation” emerged, and the SERPO, UMMO and CARET memes appear, giving conspiracy theory a new name and a new Web-borne energy.

We now have Exopolitics as the latest version of a form of superluminal persuasion.

The Military-Industrial-Entertainment Complex

As an idea, mechanical “fact” as a measurable resource is now so beleaguered it is being forced to construct its very own fantasy Big Media agenda in terms derived mainly from the so-call “new cosmology.” Elements within this agenda are as fantastic as anything Salla, Webre or the good Dr. Boylan could offer. The CERN Collider is already producing as many metaphors as facts and as for Hawking’s Black Hole theology, it has to use the present tense to describe cosmic events, even though according to the generally accepted Theory of Relativity, the light from the nearest stars takes million of years to reach Earth. The Hubble therefore is taking pictures of events which may well have long ceased to exist!

The “fact” is that to use the correct past tense to describe cosmic events would be intolerably depressing. Readers should select a paragraph from Hawking and re-write it using the past tense, and they will see what is meant here.

This utterly absurd situation represents a dialectic crisis between brand-name mythologies rather than old-fashioned “objective science.” Hawking and his team of cultural propagandists are, no less, twisting both language and concept in order to give “information” about a cosmological state of affairs which no longer exists in what Big Media calls “real time,” a metaphysical joke if ever there was. They are using this falsehood to justify the continuation of a “measurement” culture which is just as fantastic a concept as any Exopolitical ideas about “communication” with alien spaceship full of Reptoids and Greys.

We may conclude therefore that language, communication and culture are essentially linked productions involving style and presentation as much as if they were on a fashion catwalk.

Thus under threat, the so-called “real” system as constellated has no qualms about programming counter-theatres which at a brief glance appear “authentic” if only because such supposed “real” systems have a hell of a lot more going for them in terms of being brand leaders in Prime Time. “Hard” truth is the usual metaphor used by “real” systems, just as Newton’s atoms were called “hard” before discovery of their electromagnetic interior and their Quantum characteristics.

Therefore the management of metaphor is very important as regards the formation of cultural mythologies. If we laugh at Exopolitics, we might bare in mind that the great institutions (Religion, Royalty, Glamour, Entertainment, Big Media, are all “false” in the sense that they are all based on powerful manipulations of a similar kind of double-think based on a form of irresistible non-sexual pornography.

The Entertainment Factor

The one good thing about Exopolitics is that it offers moments of high comedy. Here is noted blogger Dan Smith’s almost off-hand references to his “CIA handler.” This is straight out of a Tony Hancock script, leaving us to imagine Sid James’ response over the breakfast table in East Cheam. For the record here is the reply of the CIA handler concerned, one  Ron Pandolfi:

“Ever since I met Dan, I have consistently told him that I have absolutely no interest in his Jesus complex, UFOs, aliens, or eschatology. Yet he persists with the fabrication of a Ron & Dan show! Dan is a family friend, welcome for a barbecue and occasional outings. NOTHING MORE!” (email)

It appears that jokes about CIA “handlers” of various kinds and other creatures deep in the US Intelligence community have replaced old-fashioned “my psychiatrist” jokes. The joke line now is not “my psychiatrist told me,” or “I consulted my guru,” but “my CIA hander told me…” These references replaced old Radio and music-hall jokes about politicians, mothers-in-law, and the high prices charged by blacksmiths and horse fodder providers.

Dan is in trouble because old-fashioned Politics and Religion have gone almost entirely from meaningful modern thinking. Mass corruption and manipulated slaughter have shredded politics of all credibility and the Christian religion of whatever kind has vanished with the horses in the street. With Mysticism and the Occult beaten into a corner by the undoubted physical success of  Big Science, all that remains in Western society as a basis for what might be called “belief” is the scientific ideology of the military-Industrial-complex and its much-vaunted technology. According to scientific futurist Ray Kurtzweil, our future is essentially mechanical, consisting of an ever-accelerating vertical rise of product development, scientific “breakthroughs” and physical “improvements” of many a Meccano kidney.

But like most straight scientists, Kurtzweil appears not have reached even the TV Age yet, never mind the Web. Like most of his colleagues he thinks probably that TV is something to keep the kids quiet whilst he gets on with sorting out the “laws” of the “factual” and “real” Rules and Regulations universe, considered by latter-day Victorian Station Masters to be very much a non-moveable feast.

Apparently the absorption of billions of powerful images per second plays no part in modern “scientific” ideas of “causation,” which are still conceived as being essentially mechanical. As in the days of Victorian Station Master science, apparently to be “real,” one thing has to bang against another thing.

Any culture thrives by re-supplying a constant stream of system-gods, and this entails necessarily a good supply of good new god-designs. Replacement of such comically antiquated father-figures as the psychiatrist (or the economist) leads us to the central mystery of cultural formation. The “whistleblower” and the “secret insider informant” are just two of the many avatars which have replaced the guru, the saint, the priest, and many other discredited comic-book heroes and heroines of the deep past. For spiritual succour, we are left with the Pop Star and the Military-Industrial-Complex.

The Disclosure Movement  in particular and Ufology in general goes down on its knees asking for the slightest atom of revelation concerning the belief that this same said Complex holds the secret of the UFO. The scant bits and piece of UFO “evidence” are regarded as the modern equivalent to pieces of the True Cross in mediaeval times.

The truth is that the last big faith-based system, namely free-market Corporate Capitalism has failed us. It is now the turn of much-vaunted Big Science to fall flat on its face. Meantime, what Dan Smith and many other Disclosure types want is True Religion. But the Pentagon as Kafka’s Castle on the hill won’t give it to him, if only because most probably it doesn’t have all that much to give. Thus religious heat is projected into the mythological dark: “the beloved Authorities are keeping something from us” cry the spiritually-starved folk.

This participation mystique between actors and audience between Product and psycho-social Mystique here goes back a long way.  It smacks of political manipulations concerning tomb-mysteries, urn-burials, Christ-shrouds, and old bones in old caskets.

Allegorically, both Dan Smith and Alfred Webre are still on the road to Canterbury in 1380 with Chaucer’s pilgrims and their appetite for the latest products of the continuous-process Miracle Industry. There will of course be a few new arrivals on that road. The Scientist and the Exopolitical Ufologist will have made an historical appearance trotting on their horses alongside the Miller, the Reeve and the Wife of Bath. They will help extend and re-develop the mythology of Belief.

In the case considered here, in order to protect itself from the baffled UFO penitents, the equally baffled Priests of the Pentagon techno-mysterium will throw out a few crumbs occasionally to the pilgrims whilst it considers the situation and watches its back to cover itself should the “bugs” arrive. But even almost-real crumbs are rare and expensive, and so crumbs have to be manufactured. The sheeple, ever-grateful for any kind of crumb from the High Table, won’t bother about distinctions. They will willingly gulp down this very mixed diet, ever-grateful for even almost-sustenance. The word “almost” is a key word in these discussions. It keeps the sheeple salivating. Thus does the gaming situation appear within the controlled diet of different levels of managed perception.

Ufology Exopolitics Special – Source A Update

Michael SallaThe majority of people who have read our “Source A Exposed” report know they have read a comprehensive and well documented  account of deceit and deception. The tale of intergalactic politics and sentient rocks should never have stood the test of time in the first place, but the people running the show made sure theirs was a tight ship, it was next to impossible to verify even a single aspect of the story. When chinks did appear, such as the Katrina rapes that never were, they were glossed over and ignored.

However, our detailed investigation and subsequent report of the true story behind the Source A information cannot be ignored. Our facts are of the real kind, the kind which can be checked and verified.

The supporters and enablers of the Source A story have therefore attempted to attack our reveal from a different angle. Michael Salla, one of, if not THE principal supporter of Clay and Shawn Pickering’s story, has been very active in what could loosely be termed as damage control.

At OM, here in the comments section of the site and on his own site, he has fastened on to one particular aspect of our investigation and attacked it for all he is worth. His problem? My deliberately ignoring that part of Maccabee’s testimony that was contrary to my intended ‘exposure’. (He conveniently forgets this was a group effort and not the result of one person’s investigation)

Let’s examine Salla’s claim in more detail. He refers to the following section of the report:

“The information we already had was more than sufficient to nail this down, but this was, after all, the man who had personally met with Source A on a navy base and indirectly ended up vouching for him.  I called him up a couple of days later and had a very productive conversation. Whilst on the phone, I told him that we had discovered the name of Source A and I wondered whether Source A had identified himself by name to him. He said he had, to which I replied “Richard?” he answered by saying “Yeah Richard, Richard Theilmann”.

Salla argues:

“Unfortunately, for Broadbent he omits to mention that the same source he used to confirm his outing of Source A, directly contradicts his ‘exposé’. The source in question is recently retired Navy scientist Dr Bruce Maccabee who in 2008 was still working at the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center, in Virginia.  This is what Maccabee had to say in a 2009 interview about a meeting he had with Source A in 2008.”

He did get that part right, Bruce Maccabee was indeed our source who confirmed Richard Theilmann’s identity for us. Unfortunately for Salla, this would be the only thing he does get right in response to our article.

Salla then quotes Bruce Maccabee:

“First of all, I work at a Navy Laboratory, at the time, he visited me, I think it was in April 2008. In a Navy Laboratory in order to get in you had to have credentials, you had to have clearances, a badge that would allow you to come in, and even if you get in, you might need an escort, if you didn’t have a sufficiently high clearance. Well Source A came right to my office, without any escort. Which tells me he had the credentials. He gave me a review of all the things he had done over the years. It … certainly looked real. At the very least, he was able to go right through the security of the laboratory and came right through to my desk. I told him how to get to the office and he did it.”

Salla continued (in part)

“So here we have a respected senior Navy scientist confirming that Source A had genuine credentials, and a very high security clearance as well to enable him to enter the facility unescorted.”

In light of the information to follow further below, quite how Salla can go from “..which tells me had the credentials” to “had genuine credentials” is anyone’s guess. The same applies to stating as fact that Source A had “a very high security clearance”.

From speaking with Bruce on the phone, I had the distinct impression that he had been conned by Source A and perhaps others in respect to the base access issue. There were a number of options on the table which could explain how Source A could gain access to the facility, but I didn’t dwell on this aspect because it wasn’t important based on everything else we had uncovered.

Time to Dwell

As it stands, there are a number of ways Source A could have gained access to the base and Maccabee’s office. Firstly, and considering what we had already discovered about Richard Theilmann and the inconsistencies in the Pickering’s story, he could have faked his way in.

Salla only gives a cursory glance to this possibility, with the following comment on this blog:

“If a hoax is what is occurring, that would at the least invite a Congressional investigation of lax security procedures at the Naval Warfare Center that allowed an alleged ‘hoaxer’ to walk around unescorted in the post 911 error [sic].”

Bryce Weiner, one of the researchers involved in this investigation, showed how “the ability for individuals to fake credentials to gain access to military facilities in a post-9/11 era is quite well established.” and provides the following examples:

Man faked his way into Army as an NCO

5 fake Army Chaplains arrested

Fake Naval officer arrested

Another possibility that would explain how Theilmann was able to access the facility, would be his previous service in the US Navy. I checked the visitor information for the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division  – Bruce Macabee’s place of employment when visited by Theilmann sometime around April 2008 – in order to better understand the security procedures for the base.

http://www.navsea.navy.mil/nswc/dahlgren/PAO/visitInfo.aspx

Standard Facility Access:

All visitors access the facility via the Main Gate. Visitors will be issued a visitor badge, which must be returned to the gate upon departure.”

The fact that the base has a standard facility access highlights how one does not need any classified security clearances in order to access the base. RU admin Access Denied showed how a retired naval officer, for example, may want to access the base in order to use the Commissary (grocery store) or the Exchange (general store) facilities available to all retired members of the US Navy. Dahlgren has both of these stores on site.

Base Vehicle Pass:

Visitors will be issued a vehicle pass, when deemed necessary, at the Pass and ID office. A valid drivers license is required.”

Nope, no special credentials or highly classified security clearances needed there, either.

There is no need for us to comment on the “Submission of visit requests for classified visits” section, because as we will see further below, there is absolutely no need for us to do so.

Bruce Maccabee

The Real Deal

Prompted by Salla’s constant accusations of disingenuity regarding our “omission” of Bruce Maccabee’s expert testimony, we decided to contact him again.

RU’s Ryan Dube once again opened discussions with Dr. Maccabee, asking for further clarification regarding the meeting with Richard Theilmann.

Bruce replied a short time later:

“Haven’t had a contact from anyone regarding the “Affair of A”.
As for getting onto the Navy base is concerned, I offered to meet him at the check-in entry building, assuming that he would need an escort.
However, he assured me that he could enter without an escort…. and obviously he was correct.
He arrived within a few minutes of the planned time.”

Realising that this was info already in the public domain, Ryan knew that more information was needed in order to discover exactly what the requirements were – as understood by Bruce:

“Thanks for the response Bruce,

According to this document, you don’t need an escort, you only need to have an appointment with someone on base:

http://www.navsea.navy.mil/nswc/dahlgren/PAO/visitInfo.aspx

As you’ve stated below, you and he had agreed upon a “planned time” when he would arrive – so is it safe to assume that he had an appointment to meet with you? According to the document above, if he had an appointment with you, he could simply pick up the visitor badge at the main gate. There’s nothing in the visitor information page that mentions anything about needing an escort.

Can you confirm?

-Ryan”

Keen to receive a response and after hearing nothing for several hours, Ryan sent a further email:

“Bruce, could you please confirm that the information Steve found is true and that Richard did not need an escort to visit you on the base, only an appointment?

SNIP

You’ve stated that you *assume* he’d need an escort. The documentation from the base shows that he only needed an appointment, not an escort. I hope you can understand how important it is that you confirm the truth and let us know if he really needed an escort or not – not just whether you assume as much.

Thanks Bruce – again, I really appreciate your insight on this.

-Ryan”

This time Bruce did reply:

“I thought I answered this question before.
I had assumed he would need an escort and said I would meet him at the entry office when he arrived.
He said he didn’t need an escort.
And, evidently he didn’t.  He showed up at my office within minutes of the appointed time.
That meant he drove through the guard gate and followed a map of the lab to the building where I
worked.
To get through the guard gate he would have had to have a badge or a “common access card”  that
would have been checked by the guard.”

Ryan, being the excellent researcher he is, knew we needed specific clarification on this issue and responded with the following important questions:

“Bruce…I understand your point, but people are using your description of the visit to imply that Richard had high-level classified clearances.

According to the visitor rules that Steve found here: (http://www.navsea.navy.mil/nswc/dahlgren/PAO/visitInfo.aspx)

You mention below that he would have needed a badge – according to the document above, this could have been a visitor badge:

“All visitors access the facility via the Main Gate. Visitors will be issued a visitor badge, which must be returned to the gate upon departure.”

A “visitor” is defined as anyone with an appointment on the facility, and you will notice that the document differentiates between a simple facility visit and a “classified” visit…for some reason you don’t make that differentiation in your own description of the visit.

Salla and others are using your description of the visit to imply that because Richard was able to gain entrance to the facility, that he had classified clearances – however, the official visitor guidelines for the base state that a visitor can visit the facility without security clearances, so long as the visit isn’t a “classified visit”. Please take a look at the link above for the differentiation.

I guess what I’m asking is – isn’t it possible that he was there to visit someone else for non-classified reasons, and decided it would be a good opportunity to visit you? What if someone else at your facility signed for him as a visitor? What if there was an event or a Navy function he was attending at the facility, as a visitor?  Aren’t there dozens of reasons he could have had access to the facility that don’t necessarily imply he has special classified clearances?

-Ryan”

The questions had the desired effect and Dr. Maccabee responded to Ryan later that day and was much more specific with his answers (emphasis added):

“My recollection is that a visitor badge had a big “V” on the front.  I didn’t have that many unclassified visitors over the years so my memory is hazy on this.  But my recollection is that he did not have a “V” badge.
However, I could be wrong on this.  I didn’t pay close attention to all the details of the visit because I didn’t foresee this controversy.  I was doing C&S P a “favor” by agreeing to meet “A”.  So far as I knew, they had much more information than I had about “A” and his testimony.   He certainly did not need a high level clearance to have an unclassified visit with me. However, because of all the “hush hush” activities and the claim by C&S P that he was working for an Admiral, I assumed he had a high level clearance. He never said anything to me that would make me think that he had no clearance level.  Had I thought that I was supposed to be thoroughly vetting this person I would have taken notes at the time and I would have written down all the pertinent info on his badge.

At any rate, the truth or falsity of his various claims will be determined by further investigation.”

Boom!
Boom! That is the sound of Salla and Co’s hopes and dreams for the Source A story exploding around their ears. The one remaining aspect of the story -in their eyes at least- that these people could use to prove to others there MUST be something to the story, has gone up in a cloud of white hot shrapnel and billowing smoke. Salla’s assertions that Theilmann gaining access to the base and meeting with Maccabee “supports his claims that he was a covert operative for classified programs involving senior US Navy personnel” are thus completely and utterly without merit.

Bruce says he didn’t pay attention to all the details of the visit and was actually doing Clay and Shawn Pickering a FAVOR by agreeing to meet Source A! One can only speculate why Clay and Shawn would need such a favour. To lend veracity to their claims, perhaps?

In case you missed it above, Bruce also confirms that Source A “certainly did not need a high level clearance to have an unclassified visit” with him. Bruce confirms that he only assumed he had a high level clearance based on what he was told by the Pickerings.

That Richard Theilmann accessed the base is without question. However, there were any number of ways he could have done this, none of which necessitate the need for any kind of classified clearances whatsoever. The people pushing this story need you to believe that he did have such access, because without it, the story is dead in the water.

It is clear to us that Bruce Maccabee was used as an unwitting pawn in the game being played by the Pickerings. Based on Salla’s extensive comments on this subject and past behaviour promoting the outlandish claims, one would be forgiven for wondering if he – and others in the exopolitics crowd – are more heavily involved in this apparent con game than at first thought.

This is something we are actively investigating.

Richard Theilmann

There has been one other major development in the Source A investigation. I spoke with Richard Theilmann on the telephone today and had a brief, but amicable conversation with him. Due to the  nature of the information discussed, I shall refrain from mentioning any details for the time being. However, further calls have been arranged and we will be reporting on these conversations in the very near future.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Ufology Exopolitics Special: Source A Exposed!

Hold the Pickles and the Special Source

The UN Building in New YorkWhat is Source A?

“Source A” is allegedly an active-duty officer in the United States Navy with a long and illustrious career, spanning nearly 40 years at sea. Nothing remarkable about that, surely? Well, as soon as you factor in the information that this particular individual liaises with Extra Terrestrial races on behalf of the UN, his career suddenly takes on a much more remarkable angle. The aforementioned ET’s allegedly have a direct political involvement in our (human) affairs, but damn, I don’t remember voting reptilian!

The fantastical story as told by “Source A” is a huge hit amongst the Exopolitical crowd, for obvious reasons. One would be forgiven for thinking that this particular story couldn’t have come along at a better time for people like Salla, Greer, Webre, Komarek et al. Two previously little known individuals, brothers by the names of Clay and Shawn Pickering, are solely to thank for catapulting this story onto an unsuspecting public in early 2008 and they have been keeping us updated ever since. Their unflinching devotion to the message is a credit to their stamina and willpower. The many obvious flaws in the story have been pointed out to them countless times, yet still they remain, still they continue. They have of course been helped by the venue they have chosen to promote this exopolitical wet dream; the “Open Minds” forum.

The Open Minds forum is well known throughout the ufological community as a place for fantasists and would-be-hoaxers to peddle their wares in comfort and without fear of reprisal. Many of those OM members who have cried foul at the Pickering’s claims, have found themselves summarily suspended and in some cases permanently banned for their troubles.

How fitting then, that it would be there that the significant first nail in the coffin of the Source A “disclosure” would be hammered home. They just didn’t know it yet.

Secret Meetings: Intrigue and Suspense

On the 9th April this year, Clay Pickering, posting as ‘temporal’ at OM, posted the following short message along with the attached photo (resized and rotated for convenience):

“Hey OMF, here’s an attachment I want you to have a look at.”

Navy League Luncheon Navy League Luncheon

Followed quickly by the posting of another photo (on the right, above)

What was going on here?, we wondered.  We didn’t have too long to wait before he posted the following :

“Dear OMF,

Recently I was at a “function” that involved Chief of Naval Operations/Admiral Gary Roughhead. Admiral Roughhead before 130 people (Navy & State Dept. & UN delegates) discussed the future of the Navy and its policies with nation-states. Needles to say, the admiral’s lecture was fascinating. For now, until I am given permission on what I can say about the event and “WHO” attended (no names or ranks will be forthcoming), I will refrain from commenting on the specifics. Yes, our source was there. Yes, I was the ONLY participant not on the original list and had to be “vetted” by Four different people in order to get in. Yes, our source had to vouch for me.

And most importantly of all, I met our source’s (third) counterpart to the UN!”

The implications of the message were quite clear, and Michael Salla arrived barely minutes later to reinforce the apparent significance of the meeting with the following post:

“Thanks Clay for sharing this information. I’m excited by the implications of you being given permission to start revealing what you heard and who was in attendance at the ‘function’ featuring Admiral Roughhead. Especially, the meeting with Source A’s (third) replacement at the UN with responsibility over the UFO discussions that have been secretly occurring in various fora since Source A’s replacement. The photo is significant since it shows that someone had to pull various strings to get you into that ‘function’, and that senior people in the Navy approve of your presence, and the implications of senior Navy personnel being discussed in relation UFO disclosure. So I look forward to more coming and thank you for your incredible patience in dealing with the public on this very complex and sensitive topic.”

Just in case there could be any confusion, Clay reiterated that this was clearly a highly secure and important meeting:

“I know there will be many questions, please be patient. Again, we want to respect security and the wishes that the participants shall remain anonymous.”

Followed by yet more intrigue and secrecy barely minutes later:

“We learned of this event with very little notice. This was purposely done to guarantee that security would be high with no advance warning, hence the nature of the vetting process. What also spoke volumes to Shawn and me is the high regard our source’s brethern hold him ( I conveyed the elements to Shawn later). Geez…talk about our guy working a room (lol). I can tell you guys without a doubt I was looked over pretty good; especially, source’s counterpart. Solid eye contact was made towards me by the counterpart when counterpart saw “our guy” speaking to me. It was at a later point that I introduced myself to the counterpart and engaged in small talk. The counterpart is a pro and our guy has a very high regard for this person. Yes, our guy was involved with briefing the counterpart about a week before the Korean hubbaloo. We learned this later by the way. Keep in mind guys, nothing was broached by me about the phenomena. I felt it was best to just observe and listen.

When your the only guy not vetted prior to the event, you better hold your cards close. Also, the event required that everyone pay sixty dollars a plate. I was relieved that I was asked to pay after I got vetted. The chicken tastes better and no one likes a crasher (lol).

Again guys, please refrain from asking any specific questions at this point. I just got off the phone (clicking like hell by the way) with our guy and told him we need to sit down and be clear on what I can say. This may take a little time.”

The above comments by Pickering and Salla are extremely important  in order to accurately determine their agenda and intent by posting such information. The reader is left in no doubt as to the significance and implications of this function: Disclosure is real and it’s happening now. Indeed it is. Let’s have some real disclosure.

What really happened: The Navy League Luncheon

Former Open Minds co-administrator ‘JeddyHi’, first name John, posted some real disclosure barely hours after the above comments had been made:

“Temp, your making this sound way more mysterious than it really is.

The photo is from the New York Athletic Club where the Admiral addressed the New York Council of the Navy League.

Cost to attend the Admiral’s speech, for members, $50.00.

Non- members, $60.00.

At least that price included open bar with wine, beer and soft drinks!

The Admiral had a busy day. He also stopped at NYU Poly Tech and the New York City Yacht Club where he talked about the same thing….the mission of the Navy and its global effects.

I wonder if State Dept personnel and UN delegates were present for that one as well. ;)

Clearly, Mr. Pickering hadn’t counted on anyone actually checking into the details of Admiral Roughhead’s PUBLIC speaking engagements! The Navy League Luncheon was a public event and had been advertised as such on their official website for weeks beforehand.  John not only checked the details online, he also went directly to the source and contacted one of the organisers of the luncheon, Mr Rick Kenney, the Executive Director of the New York Navy League.

Hello,

I was wondering if you could clarify something. The recent luncheon (April 8th) with Admiral Roughead at the New York Athletic Club was attended by an acquaintance I know who claimed that the luncheon was also attended by State Dept personnel and UN delegates. He also claimed that no note taking was allowed. He definitely attended the function as he has a picture of himself with the Admiral in the background. I know that tickets to non-members were offered but I am surprised at his claim of State Dept personnel and UN delegates being present for a lecture/luncheon that was for intents and purposes a ‘public’ event. Does my aquaintance perhaps exaggerate?

Thanks for any insight.

MR. *:  A cursory review of our records indicates that you are not currently a member of the New York Council of the Navy League.  Hence, I am puzzled at the reason for, and context of, your inquiry to this office.  Based on the claims you present, it appears that your unnamed “friend” is misinformed.  The CNO’s appearance was publicized, and was indeed intended as, a “public event,” as are most of his presentations.  He was accompanied by members of his own staff.  There were no “State Department personnel” in attendance.  There were also no “UN Delegates” in attendance. There were members of one or more foreign consular staffs in the room as guests of members of the Navy League and/or Naval Order, which co-sponsored the event.  This is nothing out of the ordinary, and they are, of course, part of the public at large, which we are pleased to welcome to any and all our sponsored events.  RICK

John also sought clarification from Joe Buff, a defensetech.org  blogger who attended the event and reported as such with his article CNO Reflects on Navy “Tipping Point” Factors. Joe confirmed the same thing as Rick Kenney; the luncheon was a public event, the list of attendees was public knowledge, there was no secrecy surrounding the event and what’s more, members of the public were actively encouraged to attend! Quite different indeed from the cloak and dagger intrigue the Pickering’s and friends had attempted to portray.

While this event was to turn into a major source of embarrassment for the Pickering’s and Source A, they couldn’t possibly have known exactly how bad things were going to get.

Faces in a Crowd

In the spirit of the gathering being a public event, the Navy League itself posted a large number of photographs from the luncheon on their website, 100 of them to be precise! CNO Luncheon 2010.

This public sharing of information, along with the tenacity of two people who were sick and tired of this charade being played by the Pickering’s and associated hanger’s on, would finally yield a breakthrough in the quest for the truth of the Source A tale.

John, we have already read about. Enter Andy Murray, a colourful character known to many by his online handle Murnut (latterly Mur) at the infamous Open Minds forum, the popular conspiracy website Amkon.net, and of course here at Reality Uncovered.

Andy used to be a prolific poster at Open Minds, but that counted for nothing in the eyes of the OM powers-that-be when he ended up getting himself banned for his unrelenting sceptical stance against the Pickering’s.

Around the time of the Navy League Fiasco, we contacted John and enquired about the possibility of working together in an attempt to crack open the Source A case. We had seen his valiant attempts at exposing the nonsense behind the story fall on largely deaf ears, so we thought a collaborative effort might have more success. John agreed and suggested we bring Andy on board, an offer we immediately accepted. This collaborative approach was exactly what was needed and we didn’t have long to wait for it to bear the ripest of fruits.

Clay's table at the Navy LuncheonThanks to the Pickering’s posting their photos of Admiral Roughhead to their Source A thread, AND the Navy League posting 100 photos of the event to their official website, Andy and John were able to narrow down the suspects for the Source A character down to just two or three likely candidates. They did this simply by identifying where in the room Clay’s photos were shot from and correlating that perspective with the many photos available on the Navy League website.

It was a simple, yet brilliant piece of investigative skill. What’s more, there would be more to come.

Clay's table at the Navy League Luncheon

Narrowing down the list of suspects from three to one wasn’t going to be easy, but fortunately for us, the Pickering’s made this task much easier by having Source A visit with a number of well known members of the Ufology circuit. RU’s Ryan Dube has maintained an amicable working relationship with one of those people, so when Andy asked us if we could contact him and ask him to verify, Ryan jumped at the chance and fired off an email containing a number of photos and some background information.

Imagine our excitement when little over an hour later, he replied with the following:

“My recollection of him suggests that he is the guy at the left in the light colored suit

http://www.nynavyleague.org/cpg/displayimage.php?album=24&pos=12

The other suggested photos show very dark images, some of which might be poor pictures of him.”

Enter stage left, Source A:

Source A on the leftLink to original

For the first time since the story began, Source A now had a face. He was still anonymous, but now in name only. Remarkably, thanks to the combined efforts of Andy and John, within a few short hours we also had his name.

CSI New York: Identifying Source A

The picture identified by our source yielded a very important clue. He was wearing a pin on his lapel, along with a tie-pin depicting an aircraft. The lapel pin, the US Flag above a blue cross was identified by John as being the symbol of the “Naval Order of the United States”, a naval society with Commanderies in many US Cities; New York included.

Andy didn’t need any further encouragement. He quickly found the website of the New York Naval Order Commandery and set about searching for further clues. In an ideal world, a world where scriptwriters make the rules perhaps, he would find another photo of the person identified as being Source A and he would be sporting a name tag. Of course, such things only happen in the movies and poorly written novels, don’t they?

No, no they don’t.

Richard Theilmann aka Source A

The 17th picture along gave us precisely that. Source A wearing a name tag! Move over Source A, say hello to Richard Theilmann.

Link to original

It was a fantastic spot by Andy and the find prompted a frenzy of searching for further references to Richard Theilmann. We can thank all that is good that he isn’t called Richard Smith! Theilmann is a much easier name to find relevant results for. By this time, Andy, John and the RU team had been joined by Bryce Weiner, a member of conspiracy website Amkon.net who goes by the name of Cogburn. The threads at Amkon had become the place to go to if one wanted to discuss the material released by the Pickering’s with any semblance of logic and reason.
It was Bryce who found Theilmann’s contact details and it was also he who found a veritable treasure trove of information on his MySpace site. Yes, that’s right. Earth’s ambassador to alien races has a MySpace website.

Social Networking, ET Style

http://www.myspace.com/41826877

Richard Theilmann's MySpaceThere could be no doubt that this was the person we were looking for. He had kindly provided a wealth of information and photographs which confirmed beyond all suspicion that this was the man with Clay Pickering at the New York Navy League Luncheon and the same man pictured on the New York Commandery website of the US Naval Order. Richard Theilmann, male, 56 years old of Astoria, New York. Luckily for us, there aren’t a great many Richard Theilmann’s in the whole of the US, never mind New York. His age and location confirmed the details unearthed by Bryce as being accurate.

We couldn’t wait to read all about this very important person, and from the man himself, no less. Let us not forget, even if only a little of what we are led to believe about him is true, this person, Richard Theilmann aka Source A, would be one of the most important human beings who had ever lived!

“Ok, I’m an outgoing, friendly guy who people tell me that I give way too much of myself. So I guess selfish is not one of my faults. I love to flirt and enjoy talking to people. I’ve been known to be that guy who starts conversations at the bar or at parties. Love to party and dance, although I can’t quite do ballroom dancing but I’d love to take lessons with a sexy female.”

Hmm, not quite what we were expecting from our VIP, but let’s continue:

“OK, Now we get to the sex part………… Nothing is more powerful or erotic as a woman who is turned on and wants it as much as I do. I really prefer to play with a woman who enjoys herself. Chemistry is all the thing. Now, I could go on and on and talk about ……………. but you’ll have to email me.”

Now that is definitely NOT what we were expecting from our ambassador to the universe!

As if that wasn’t enough, he lets us in on some more of his “secrets”. Towards the end of the biography section is this snippet:

“Oh, and as for being a Male Slave…. it’s all around great fun and a blast of a party ice breaker. Privately, with the right woman it’s awsome, and, yes, that IS a lock on my balls….. the birthday girl gets the key”

Richard Theilmann aka Source A like you've never seen him before

Is this the kind of person who we want taking care of our intergalactic affairs? It’s a Rhetorical question, there aren’t any intergalactic affairs to take care of in the first place.

Further clues to his real identity were quickly forthcoming. With all of us searching at the same time, it was sometimes difficult to keep up with relevant leads and information, events were moving at a frenetic pace and it was imperative we didn’t miss anything.

Separating Fact from Fiction

The Naval Order website provided us with another important piece of the puzzle. On the NY homepageis a list of the Order’s leadership. Toward the bottom of the list we have Richard Theilman, but misspelled with one ‘n’. We know the correct spelling because it is listed elsewhere on the site and on his nametag in the picture above. Quite surprisingly, his name is listed as the “Asst. Chaplain” of the New York Commandery. Also surprising is the omission of rank. All active serving members of the Navy would normally be listed with their rank displayed alongside their name. We know he should be active because the Pickering’s have told us so often enough. In fact, they were quite specific regarding Theilmann’s career.

http://lucianarchy.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=unitednations&thread=4806&page=385#249471

“Not at all, Jeddyhi. Especially because the “reach” is coming from someone who has worn the uniform since 1968!; Especially since this officer has worked at Area 51.; Especially since this officer was tasked to be a diplomatic representative with the State Department, with military credentials, for disclosure to the UN; Especially since this officer met with his counterparts in Europe; Especially since this officer has and continues to liaise with the “boys topside”; Especially since this officer was able to get a non-listed (not cleared) member into a very significant luncheon using his pull; Especially since this officer allowed me to meet his UN counterparts; And most importantly, especially because this officer is a gentleman and has never lied to us.”

We are expected to believe that he had “worn the uniform” since 1968, yet we now know he is 56 years old, born in 1953 in fact. In 1968 this would make him 15 years old, clearly impossible for him to have been in the Navy. What’s more, there is further proof that what the Pickering’s are telling us, couldn’t possibly be true. They have repeated often that he is still on active duty, but elsewhere on the Naval Order website is information that shows that to be another lie.

If we scroll down to the 4th photo, we see another picture of Richard, this time with his wife Mary, and the caption: “LCDR Richard and Mary Theilmann”. The Facebook site of the order gives the same rank for Richard, namely LCDR, which is short for “lieutenant commander”.

LCDR Richard Theilman and wife Mary

The LCDR officer rank is classed as a junior officer with a pay grade of o-4 (From WikiPedia). More senior ranks, from commander through captain and all the way up to admiral are ranked from o-5 to o-10 respectively. Surely we can be forgiven for thinking a task of such enormous importance as that allegedly carried out by Source A, should be given to someone with a more significant pay grade? It matters not, because as RU co-administrator Access Denied was to show, there is no way a LCDR could serve as long as 40 years or more in any case.

http://www.cbo.gov/doc.cfm?index=1772&type=0&sequence=2

“In addition to regulating promotion opportunity and timing, DOPMA (Defense Officer Personnel Management Act of 1980) provides for an “up-or-out” promotion system that further standardizes career patterns. Under that system, officers who are not promoted to O-2, O-3, or O-4 after being reviewed for promotion for the second time must leave the military. To complete 20 years of service and become eligible for retirement, officers must attain the pay grade of O-4.(2) To remain beyond 20 years, they must advance even farther. Officers in pay grades O-5 and O-6 may complete 28 and 30 years of service, respectively.

2. The service secretaries, however, have the authority to permit an officer in pay grade O-4 to remain on active duty until completing 24 years of service.”

We will soon know for sure exactly how long LCDR Richard Theilmann served his country for. One thing is for sure, it most certainly wasn’t 40 years and it is extremely doubtful it was even close to 20 years – if at all!

Rewriting History

The evidence against the Pickering’s was mounting fast. All over the internet we were finding clues and references that were allowing us to build up a picture of Theilmann’s life, a picture very much different to that portrayed by Clay and Shawn Pickering.

For example, we were led to believe that Theilmann, in the guise of Source A, was a veritable hero in the aftermath of the horrific Katrina hurricane that hit New Orleans in 2005.

http://lucianarchy.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=unitednations&thread=3620&page=207#150206

“When the devastation of Katrina had hit its zenith in New Orleans, a contingent of military VOLUNTEERS had made their way to the Superdome. One of those who VOLUNTEERED was our guy. When the contingent received word that there were gang rapes going on in the Superdome, our guy and a few Marines took part in finding these bottom-feeders. They would find the women who had been raped including some of their children and asked them to point out who took part in this abomination. The woman (with corroboration) proceeded to point out the rapists. Word spread quickly among the rapists that the military was arresting and rounding them up. This made things more difficult, obviously. The contingent would find these people [?] hiding in dirty laundry baskets, one in a container of feces and every place imaginable to get away. Some of these rapists would fight, some would just give up. By the time the contingent finally rounded up who they could find, it would be around twenty four rapists. There were far more who got away. Those found were arrested, tie-wrapped, and thrown in back of the RVs for detention.

One woman who our source administered to, was raped so badly that her bloody clothes had dried and stuck within her vagina. This woman sacrificed her body to stop the rapists from doing the same to her daughter. With her permission, this woman let our guy pour warm water over the area to loosen the cloth so a topical medicine could be applied. Once this was done, our guy applied a bandage and nylons to stop the bleeding. This woman who gave a man permission to do this, watched and cried as he relieved her pain. When our guy was finished, the woman sat up and gave our guy a tender kiss on the cheek that made his heart melt.”

This was truly an unbelievable story. Unbelievable being the operative word. Andy, under the guise of Mur, posted an exhaustive list of reports from major news sources that showed how all the reports of rape at the super dome were false and a result of media myth making. If those stories were false, what does that tell us about Source A’s acts of heroism and kindness in New Orleans?

http://lucianarchy.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=unitednations&thread=3620&page=208#150278

Excerpt:

“The stories were told by residents trapped inside the Superdome and convention center and were repeated by public officials. Many news organizations carried the witness accounts and official pronouncements and in some cases later repeated the claims as fact, without attribution.

But now, a month after the chaos subsided, police are re-examining the reports and finding that many of them have little or no basis in fact.

They have no official reports of rape and no eyewitnesses to sexual assault.”

“The Los Angeles Times, the New York Times and the Washington Post followed up with similar, well-researched efforts debunking myths and coming to essentially the same conclusion we had: While anarchy indeed reigned in the city, and subhuman conditions in the Dome and the Convention Center shocked the nation’s conscience, many if not most of the alarmist reports of violence were false, or at least could not be verified. Dozens of other newspapers and television outlets joined in, offering news and opinion pieces, many doggedly questioning what they and others had earlier reported.”

In answer to the question, it tells us this story above attributed to Source A (Richard Theilmann) is yet another lie. Furthermore, it can be backed up with facts and evidence – something entirely lacking from the Pickering’s and Theilmann.

http://recordingkatrina.blogspot.com/2005/09/following-was-written-by-richard.html

“The following was written by Richard Theilmann, an independent filmmaker whom I had the pleasure of spending time with while in Houston during the aftermath of Katrina.”

It seems Richard tells different people different stories. Let’s continue:

Excerpts:

“I stared in horror as day after day nothing was being done to help the people trapped in New Orleans. Worse yet, being ex-military, I know that we could move out in 48 hours. Also, I still have contact with people on Active Duty and I was receiving e-mail from old buddies such as Col. Liston, USMC who said they were all standing around waiting for orders and Lt. Col. John Mayers, US Army, 82 Airborne who said that he had 1,500 paratroopers with equipment ready to drop in and restore order but nothing in the way of operational orders had come down from CentCom. [Central Command]. Life was very busy here at home as Rosemary and I were preparing for our huge Bankruptcy Sale on Friday, Sat, Sun and Monday of Sept. 2 – 5.”

Of particular importance here are the terms “ex-military” and “Bankruptcy Sale”. The former for obvious reasons, the latter because it reinforces the former! It also conclusively shows us there is no way whatsoever that Richard could be an active duty member of the military. Off world or on.

“Sundays sermon by Fr. Mead [Matthew], urging us as followers of Christ to heed the words, Feed my Sheep, take care of the Sick. I could here Matthews own frustration as he implored people to “Do Something” ! I seriously made a commitment to find out what I could do. As it turned out, so did a new acquaintance of mine. I received an urgent e-mail asking for support and to volunteer to actively assist in recording the stories of the people and the recovery effort. I jumped into action, replying in the positive and made plans to move out as soon as our sale was over on Monday. We drove down straight through the night, arriving in just 32 hours. My first day consisted of still shots of Drew conducting interviews. This was intense and the people’s stories were compelling.

Some of the stories we heard contained description of beatings and rapes. Such violence is not inevitable. “

Quite a jump from arresting rapists and tending to the raped, to recording stories and hearing about rapes, don’t you think? The rest of the article provides a great insight into the mind of Richard Theilmann, an insight totally at odds with the Source A persona and everything attributed to him.

The above excerpts are further endorsed by the “Saint Mary The Virgin” church in New York City:

http://www.stmvirgin.org/article26999.htm

“Parishioner Richard Theilmann is in Houston for a week to help with those displaced by Katrina”

Things start to look a whole lot differently when they can be backed up by facts and evidence, don’t they?

Failed Health Check

The church website was also the source of the following information pertaining to Richard’s health; Information that would further illustrate why the Source A story is a poorly written piece of fiction.

http://www.stmvirgin.org/article136621.htm (June 2008)

“Richard Theilmann is at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, New York, recovering from surgery.”

http://www.stmvirgin.org/article139058.htm (June 2008)

“Richard Theilmann also continues to heal at home following surgery.”

Why is this important? Here’s why:

http://www.heart-valve-surgery.com/heart-surgery-blog/?p=698#comment-7708 (January 2009)

“We can learn from the other countries such as Canada, France and England and apply what works best. My main question is why should health care ONLY be available from your Employer. Forget private coverage, TOO EXPENSIVE. I had a Mirtal Valve repair May 29, 2008 under my wife’s coverage as a dependent because I’m self employed and I have no health Ins. We separated last year but she kept me as a dependent because we knew that I needed the surgery. I’m now divorced and looking for employment since I had to give up my contracting business due to the amount of time that I was away recovering. At 55, needing health ins and a job that provides coverage, this is just WRONG that this country can’t come up with an affordable way to do this.”

Surely, an active duty officer of the United States Navy would not need to be a dependent of their ex-wife just in order to get an operation, they could have the operation as part of their military benefits? Surely, an active duty officer of the United States Navy would not class themselves as being “self-employed” or having to give up a contracting business? Surely, an active duty officer of the United States Navy would not need to look for employment that provides health insurance?

Of course not, Richard Theilmann is not an active duty officer of the United States Navy otherwise he would never have found himself in such a precarious position in the first place.

All of those people who had wondered at Source A’s mysterious absence from May 2008 through to July 2008 now have their answer. He wasn’t undergoing “modifications” in order to meet conformer reptilians, he was having a heart operation and spent the time recovering.

Working Out

We have found evidence that shows that Richard hasn’t worked for the military since at least 2001, but possibly much earlier than that. His Facebook page lists his employer as “Mac & Tel Networks”, very probably the business that went bankrupt in 2005 (see above). The Internet Web Archive has an archive of his website, (http://www.mac-telnet.com) going back to May 2001. The last entry being June 2003. Domain ownership information confirms the domain name as belonging to Richard Theilmann, and was first registered in 1995. His occupation on the MySpace website is listed as “Apple Macintosh Computer Repair”, again corroborating the work information already discovered.

Source A’s School Days

In addition to the business information, Facebook also provides us with his High School information, the school being Northport High School  ’71; information that itself is corroborated by the following document  – The Northport High School Class of 1971 email directory. This information is yet further proof that Richard could not have been in the Navy in 1968, he was still at school and would be for another three years!

Final Verification

With all of this information in hand, I decided to email Ryan’s source in order to get his view on the situation and request a telephone call. The information we already had was more than sufficient to nail this down, but this was, after all, the man who had personally met with Source A on a navy base and indirectly ended up vouching for him.

As has so often been the case when investigating fantastic stories with anonymous sources and cloak and dagger intrigue, as soon as a chink in the armour appears allowing you to investigate the smallest aspect of it, the whole thing comes crashing down around you. The same thing happened in the Project Serpo case and was repeated with Gordon Novel’s RAM fiasco. One glimpse is all it takes in order to dismantle the lies and deceit that are always protected under a cloak of anonymity. Stories like these are anonymous for a reason: to prevent fact checking.

We have managed to uncover all of this information in a matter of days, and not one single part of the Source A story stands up to even the slightest scrutiny.

Conclusion

The question now remains, who has been hoaxing who? Have the Pickering’s fabricated this entire story from beginning to end, and Richard Theilmann is simply an actor playing out a role? Or are the three of them in on this together? Is this all a huge ploy by those in the exopolitics crowd in order to drive up the believer quotient and ergo increase their revenue streams? Or has this all been a work in progress screenplay by a group of people with an overactive imagination?

Well, when one digs further into the backgrounds of these three people, a strong argument for the screenplay hypothesis starts to emerge. The Pickering describe themselves as screenwriters, but the 1995 title “How Much is Happy” is the only dramatic work found so far.

Interestingly enough, when one looks at Richard Theilmann’s friends on Facebook, there is an  apparent connection with screenwriting amongst a small number of them. We can’t know for sure yet what this is all about, but one thing we do know for sure:

The Source A / UN Meeting Story as told by the Pickering’s and assisted by Source A and other personalities in the exopolitics scene is a total and utter fabrication.

We tried many times to get in touch with Richard, via email, the social networking sites and on the telephone. We wanted to get his reaction to everything we have uncovered, but he was either unwilling or unable to take our calls. Despite the publication of this article, the offer of contact still stands.
