I had this thread, and Steve's comment called to my attention, and am grateful. His analysis and several of the clarifications are the only sane things about this incident I have seen...of dozens of "snippets" that are being sent about. I await the announcement of the Comic Book which I expect will be called "Return from Serpo: Contact Rejected by Frightened Wales' Police."

I believe that the BBC got the story right?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/7465041.stm

South Wales Police said the helicopter did not give chase and described the crew as very experienced. The sighting has been reported for investigation ... A police spokesperson said: "The crew are very experienced and responded in a professional manner in relation to what they saw.

"In today's skies, there are a wide variety of aircrafts which come in a range of different shapes and sizes and in all probability, this sighting has just confirmed that one of these was in the area at the relevant time," the spokesperson added.

I'm almost positive they had the chase headline and some of the other nonsense initially, but edited the article as soon as they had more information. That is of course commendable, unlike the Sun who continue to have the fantasy version on their site.

Thanks for the comments :)

Cheers,
Steve

If I have to choose between reading what (former comedian turned Journalist) David Randall has to say about the subject Vs. reading what David Clarke has to say... I'd read Clarke everytime.

Randall appearantly employs the UFO subject in his regular comedy journalism pieces, whereas Clarke has written and extensively researched the subject, and just recently, for example, requesting and receiving the FOI request for the MoD "CONDIGN" report.

Yes it's a bit late now, but back when this happened there was a spate of UFO sightings all across the UK, some very strong sightings around the Midlands again :)

But people still get caught out by Chinese Lanterns, the ISS and simple airplanes.
Though I'm still confused by the thing that flew near my house a month or two back, which was none of the above, though I still suspect a secret test plane from Boscombe Down
