UFO over Lower Manhattan

Postby vonmazur » Thu Oct 14, 2010 12:29 am

Fellows: According to the New York Daily News, UFO's have been sighted over lower Manhattan...http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/201 ... frenzy.htm

I am sorry if the url is a bit long, but I do not know how to edit the length on this forum yet...

The reason I am posting this, is: Just before 911, there were a bunch of UFO sightings over the Hudson river in NJ..Quite a few in fact, and the story was washed away instantly by the Muslim terrorists and all that entailed...Just as the story got started, even Artie Bell had someone on talking about it, gone...

Does anyone remember this event? I am not a believer per se, just wondering... :?:

BTW: Spoiler Alert! The current UFO is obviously a group of balloons tied together....

Having recently seen a nearly identical 'phenomenon' here in Minnesota, moving against a strong wind, I suspect the 'orbs' are actually flocks of migrating birds, perhaps seagulls. From a distance, in bright daylight, as viewed through polarizing sunglasses, the visual effect is quite remarkable to see first hand.

No doubt sent up by the military as a cover for the real sighting a la Phoenix 1977. :)

Welcome to the forum Dale. The displayed url shortens automagically so no worries.

I don't recall hearing about those Jersey sightings in 2001. Could this be what you're talking about?

http://www.metacafe.com/watch/885231/uf ... ck_it_out/

This page talks about a NIDS (ugh) investigation...

http://www.ufologie.net/htm/2001sep.htm#09072001

Seems the sightings (in July) were dismissed as a "candles on a stick" hoax.

Wasn't that the Cateret event on Uuly 14/15? I remember this and mentioned it on my website:

http://home.comcast.net/~tprinty/UFO/balloon.htm

Those were, more than likely, prank balloons.

As for this recent video, they look like some balloons that were tied together. They could have been a prank or possibly some balloons that were lost from a car dealership or something like that. There is nothing unusual that I can see from the video.

I downloaded this Skew-T plot from 1200Z (0800AM) on the 13th of October (Brookhaven NY). The wind direction with altitude is on the right. It indicates speed and direction the wind is coming from:

Winds were predominently from the north and northwest for low altitudes.

It appears the UFOs were drifting with the wind according to this commentary:

I live in NYC and today, at 1:20 PM, myself and a diverse group of people stopped and stared at the sky for 30 mins as white volumous forms appeared near the Empire State Building. They all appeared at once; about 25-30. White oval, blob shapes. Then all but 3 vanished. The 3 became 1 and we watched that shape slowly drift south east for 15 mins. Then, in the original "gathering spot" another form appeared. It hovered and slowly drifted south and east. Every so often we all saw smaller round "stars" appear from within the main shape. They would drift around and then vanish behind. This happened every 6 minutes or so. At one point, what appeared to be a military plane fly by, and the smaller "stars" around the main shape vanished as if on cue. It was truly an odd sighting and I am so surprised that I am not reading more about it. -- Peter

It seems like a lot of "UFOs" were visible based on the videoclips at the blog listed. The witness states they were drifting south east and the Skew-T plot indicates winds from the north and northwest (about 2000m there was a shift of the wind to coming from the NW). Wind speeds were somewhere in the range of 13-17 nm/hr as I read the plot.

I forgot to add, there was supposedly a promotional event in Times Square of some kind, involving balloons, previous to this event...

Eya Tim and friends,

The promotional event was probably "Madrid Gran via" 100 years event.

We have modestly "investigated" from France :

We found :

"New York City Deputy Mayor Robert Steel (L) NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta unveiled a street sign in Times Square on Wednesday designating Broadway as 'Gran Via' in honor of Madrid's main thoroughfare. The event was to promote tourism between the two c (Henry Lam/The Epoch Times)"

A Picture with yellow balloons this day and of the event :

A second one: http://img.europapress.net/fotoweb/foto ... 08_500.jpg
(source: http://www.europapress.es/sociedad/noti ... 92408.html)

A third one : http://www.urgente24.com/uploads/pics/brodway.jpg
(source : http://www.urgente24.com/index.php?&id=ver&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=149471&cHash=2b4d2a143a)

One french witness reported :

http://medias.lepost.fr/ill/2010/10/15/ ... 135932.jpg

fast translation : I was down of Empire State building where I observed, filmed and photographied hundreds balls in order to post all of this in the net. But my bad : when up (the Empire State building], I clearly see Yellow balloons ! Such balloons came from Times Square. Too bad.

Source (in French) : one our french forum member "Nemrod34" in : http://www.lepost.fr/article/2010/10/15 ... llons.html

If you can confirm "Madrid Gran via" 100 years event in USA, maybe it was the source of the balloons.

Best Regards,

Gilles F.

Giles, I think the event you mentioned was the source. The school was situated quite far to the north of where people reported seeing the UFOs. I doubt those balloons would have made it that far in tight grouping. The Gran Via event is a logical source of the balloons. I wonder why the media did not put two and two together?

Our buddy Mikey Salla doesn't waste time or miss any tricks when it comes to jumping on a band wagon.

http://news.exopoliticsinstitute.org/in ... chives/632

Michael E. Salla, Ph.D.

On October 13, several dozen UFOs were sighted over New York City. The sightings began around midday and lasted until early evening. They were sighted by hundreds, and filmed by witnesses and television crews. Multiple videos of the UFOs have been broadcast. There was no official comment from government authorities over the source of the UFOs that maintained a steady position for hours on end. The FAA said nothing showed up on radar and it had no advance reports of balloons being launched in the area. The October 13 sighting would be like so many other unexplained UFO sightings over major cities, except for one notable exception. Stanley A. Fulham, a retired NORAD officer, actually predicted October 13 as the date that extraterrestrial visitors would appear as the initial step in a process to educate the world public that we are not alone. Astonishingly, his prediction was validated by the mass UFO sighting in New York, as well as in other major cities. Could the New York UFO sighting on October 13 be the first step in extraterrestrials indisputably revealing themselves to the world public as Fulham claims?

This one, possibly?

"New York City (October 13, 2010) — New York City Deputy Mayor Robert Steel and Madrid Deputy Mayor Miguel Ángel Villanueva today joined NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta, and CEO of Promoción Madrid Pablo Bautista, to announce a media and marketing exchange agreement designed to increase travel between the two cities in 2011. In addition, Broadway was temporarily renamed “Gran Vía”, known throughout Europe as the “Spanish Broadway”, in celebration of Madrid’s historic avenue’s 100th anniversary. New York City and Madrid officials gathered on Broadway and 46th Street, in the heart of Times Square, to make the announcement."

Eya ComfortablyNumb,

I have already posted in this thread this balloon's event as possible source concerning the dozens or hundreds UFOs testimoned over N.Y. ^^ Your last video is very confirmative. TY.

BTW : this post dated video circulates too as UFOs over major capital towns the 13th (here Moscow), as proof of what was predicted by Fulham in several whoowhooland french sites :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFxS1-P8 ... r_embedded

Dunno if it is the same in anglo-saxon countries sites, but in fact, it is an april 2009 video (chinese lanterns) :
