Russian Air Traffic Hears Cat or Foreign Language?

Postby ryguy » Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:49 pm

Thought this report was interesting:

Hasn't anyone considered foreign words that sound like "meow"? In Chinese there are what, hundreds or more?

Yes, it must be an alien speaking in cat-language ffs....

The radar signature it gave off is pretty interesting too.

Not a lot of good information associated with this. The hard radar data would be a start. To be honest, these things get blown way out of proportion and what one usually finds is that what actually happened is not as extraordinary as claimed in these reports. Last year's episode in China is a recent example.

Edit: Maybe it is "Twitch's" cat coming back from the other side to taunt UFOlogists.

Oh those are all funny. Just too much potential humor involved with this story.

The first thing I thought when I read this is "What language are Air Traffic Controllers supposed to use when confronted by a language they do not speak?"

From Wiki:

"Although local languages are sometimes used in ATC communications, the default language of aviation worldwide is English. Controllers who do not speak this as a first language are generally expected to show a certain minimum level of competency with the language."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_traffic_controller

I noticed that no attempt was made to communicate in English in that clip. I don't speak Russian so perhaps it was a voice-over commentary made after the recording? I certainly didn't hear any cat/Chinese vocalisation. If the people who released the video had access to the recording wouldn't they have access to the audio recording which went with it?

Or are we to believe someone just happened to be in the control tower with a camcorder with the microphone switched off?

I despair sometimes.

As usual, the medias have done a total crap mixing (like in the "Chinese UFOs" last year) infos and video that aren't related...

This video:

....that is seen everywhere and linked to this story, firstly popped up on ...... 2010 May:
