Amkon. Another one falls on his sword.

'Twould seem that PaCk3tGoSt or whatever he likes to call himself has now fallen on his sword and done and 1Quit over at Amkon.
Ive already said my piece about this duplicitous person so will say no more. You cant swim with the fish and hunt with the sharks. it doesnt work.

Ive also been pulled up on my differing attitudes to Censorship.
I dont believe in censorship per se. However, ahh yes heres the however, when a post is made somewhere that is nothing but an ad hominem attack, made in spite, it deserves to be censored, AFTER the poster has been asked to modify it. If they dont then it gets the chop.
Even the most basest of Internet sites needs a level below which no one goes. Ive been accused of ad hominem attacks against John Lear and others. I would dispute that, all of my responses contained at least a modicum of references as to why I was calling them prats and why their ideas were stupid. To me, insulting someone because of a claim they have made is valid, as I consider that their original claim could in itself be an insult to people's intelligence.

It was pointed out to me on another forum that the person concerned would not be censored or the post be censored in any way and I should continue posting but use the Ignore button thereby excluding that person from the discussion.
That, to me IS censorship. If someone stops posting for fear of someone else posting something so untrue, foul and despicable, then that person IS being censored, so by not censoring the original perpetrator one is effectively censoring his victim. That is wrong.

No great loss to that forum. Alexander Pope had him in mind when he said, "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing."

Just another LOST Tuesday.....

but.....

I'm shocked and glad to see that you Toon, did the right thing by issuing an apology.

However, if the apology is sincere as you state, there really is not any reason to leave.

I respect the great deal of knowledge you possess and feel that you can contribute much to whatever community you choose to be a part of, when you are focused in a positive direction.

I won't say goodbye......but until we meet again

Maybe he was simply getting tired about being gang raped by people who otherwise would support him and missinterpretted many things he did and said.
I said many times I wouldnt return to any site where BE was posting, then I read some of the stuff he was posting in various fourms and one day the penny dropped. A lot of the stuff he posts is brilliant, way above things some people can understand and some of it is little more than a dig in the ribs to people who cant even see that or understand that and then some of it is crap throwing. Its like some of the ancient cultures, if they couldnt understand something someone said they waould attack and kill them.
For me, when I see some of the stuff he posts its like running your fingernails down a blackboard, but other times what he posts is so deep it make me wonder and think, and chase around for similarities, anything that makes me stop and consider things that might change my mind is good. Ray is another one who's postings make me think and consider things I hadnt thought of before.
Toon's probably one of the only people on the web I would invite to my home (smoke outside though) and there arent many I can tell you. I now consider him to be a friend, and again I dont make or seek friends easily.

I respect the great deal of knowledge you possess and feel that you can contribute much to whatever community you choose to be a part of, when you are focused in a positive direction.

Maybe the rash of apologies might knock Snowcrash into apologising, but children dont do things like that do they?.
