The Scale of the Universe

This is, in my humble opinion, quite simply brilliant

Go to The Scale of the Universe webpage for a flash presentation that will boggle your mind.

I agree - brilliant indeed.

I just my wife it, she's a biology teacher and she thinks it will of excellent use in an interactive lesson to consolidate a whole range of different topics as well as being fun and calming too.

Nice find!

And it is peculiarly anthropocentric.

But I'm sure that was unintentional!

Agreed, thanks for posting it! I'm going to share it with the grandkids, they should be able to absorb a lot of it... at the very least it should lead to some interesting questions.

This one has been around for a while but it's pretty cool too if you haven't seen it...

Did you zoom all the way out?

If so I agree the use of "probably" is unfortunate, there's no such thing in the FLRW model... but I'm probably giving you too much credit for noticing. :)

Great find Zep. I'm at a loss though because I don't see it being anthropocentric. Is it cause of the man thats used as scale? I lkow what anthropocentric is so maybe I need another more careful look.

And while you're at it, Cowboy, you might check out the Anthropic Principle.

I'll bet you've never heard of it.

Thats a bit rude. He was only asking a question. Do you think people shouldn't ask questions?

Dan believes he is the second coming, or perhaps even the first but nobody is really sure including him so I'm going to have to say no... he would rather preach. Fortunately he isn’t very good at it and his only claim to fame is his handler, err I mean BBQ buddy, is a CIA science analyst with a twisted sense of humor…

Despite all that, somehow we've learned to live him... every once in a while he can actually appear to be semi-lucid but I wouldn’t get your hopes up even though it’s a been a while.

Lately we've managed to keep him confined to this thread...
