Who is Happier?

I found this interesting, amusing, informing, and thought-provoking all at once:

The survey, released this week, points out several disparities based on lifestyle, beliefs and political persuasion:

Republicans are happier than Democrats.
People who worship frequently are happier than those who don't.
The rich are happier than the poor.
Whites and Hispanics are happier than blacks.
Married people are happier than the unmarried.
Dog owners and cat owners rate the same.
Sunbelt residents are happier than everyone else.


I'm sure we all have our opinions and positions on "why and wherefore" about any of these... Discuss?

Republicans are "upbeats". Democrats are "deadbeats".

"People who worship frequently are happier than those who don't."

People who worship are thankful for everything. Those who do not tend to be thankless.

"The rich are happier than the poor."

This illusion is powered by economics.

"Whites and Hispanics are happier than blacks."

For whites and hispanics, happiness is not a criteria. For blacks, unhappiness is.

"Married people are happier than the unmarried."

Married people have someone to share with, and a built in conscience.

"Dog owners and cat owners rate the same."

The rain falls mainly on the "pained".

Um...I don't know about any of you, but I've been in about 5 different denominations of churches that "worship"...and I gotta tell ya....sometimes it feels like the smiles are painted on people's faces without any matching emotion in the eyes. It's freakin' creepy.

Yeah...but men die almost seven years earlier than women. And I'm now convinced it has nothing to do with health. Maybe the fact that we die happy should be some sick consolation.

I can just see the interviewer in front of a married couple.

Interviewer: So...were you happier before or after you got married?

The wife: Oh...ABSOLUTELY, our wedding was so beautiful...and sure we've had our battles, but every day of our life together has been so wonderful, we're so much more content that we can share our whole lives together.

Interviewer: What about you sir?

The husband: What about me?

Interviewer: Were you happier before or after you got married?

The husband: Yeah, I guess so.

Look Im a Miserable Atheist, Socialist, white, broke, married, non dog owner who doesnt even know (or even care) WTF the 'Sun' belt is, as he's having a LOT of problems with his own damned belt. (No more Tiramisou PLEASE)

Probably from the same office that plans rood works for the busiest times of the year ?.


I got a speeding ticket today.It was done by a Talivan I am highly annoyed.

The next time I see one of these despicable vehicles I am going to pee through its airvent.

If I knew who the smeg was that was operating the Talivan that clocked me I would defecate through his letterbox.

I am not taken to violence but I will make an exception for Talivan operators.

Uber got it right
We call a Talivan one of the damned speed trap vans. They park up in Laybys. usually on a long straight road in the middle of nowhere .
Problem is, a ticket gets you £60 fine and 3 points on the licence. You get 12 points you lose your licence for 6 months. PLUS your insurance goes sky high.
However, a lot of people are now starting to challenge Talivan tickets, especially those done with the notorious LTI 20-20 speed camera.
Im just going to pee into the vent of the next Talivan I see. They are civilians so cant nick me, only report me. Then again I might glue the locks up :roll: .
There used to be a parking meter outside the studio we used to rehearse at, I filled it, on more than one occasion with expanding foam. I once had a mad idea of filling it with AMPHO and BOOOOOOM but after recent events thought better of it. Shame though !

So, group "A" is 'happier' than group "B"... that's nice. I'm in group "W"... they have a special bench just for us.

People who worship frequently are happier than those who don't.
