Something sneaky is going on at ats and a respected member and contributer, Nomad Rush appears to have been banned.

This thread...http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread392782/pg1 is trying to bring the banning to the members' attention, but I fear this thread will vanish also as Nomad Rush's did (see http://www.google.com/search?q=Unfortun ... sentatives).

Apparantly this is what he was told...

"Unfortunately for your efforts, we find ourselves in a position where our brand representatives (William Morris, NYC) have negotiated an agreement with an entity that will require ATS brand exclusivity with an international entertainment production company. We need to gracefully curtail your involvement in all things ATS within the next 15 days."

Obviously he is not too pleased with being treated that way and if any member ever had doubts about how ats is about money rather than members contributions, here's your proof!

Keep your eye on this story as it may just blow up bigtime in their faces.

This was just posted in that black hole 'ats issues' thread...

Hi all

It is with regret that Now THAT'S Weird's official forum will be leaving www.abovetopsecret.com within the next two weeks. The new official forum will be on our website at ******

I have had a few things to say about ATS of late in respect of over-moderation, deleted posts, too many deleted "off topic posts" and even a very rude U2U from one of their directors "*****".

I posted this in the ATS forums but expect it to be removed minutes after posting lol!

This was the U2U received from them this morning:-

(see NOMADRUSH's blog - I can't post it because of censorship)

Once again corporate matters and income overtake the seeking of the truth - we've seen it all before on forums that grow so big. Unfortunately everyone has their price.

I have enjoyed my time on ATS, and when I joined it, it was a great forum, unfortunately as I leave it I believe it is not.

The way they attached themselves to Robbie Williams when he joined their forums was at first a bit sad, but now I see why - having struck a deal with the "William Morris Agency" since his involvement!!

I have given a lot of free publicity to ATS over the years on my radio show and now on my TV show and am upset at the awful way I have been treated of late.

This may help flesh out this thread - The demise of the ATS forums.

I am enjoying the hell out of this show. At the same time it is sad. Ah well.

why is anyone surprised?

seriously, once they accepted private investment, started kissing up to celebrities and released a book based on member contributions, of which members receive not a cent, surely the writing was on the wall. let alone some of the other more "interesting" developments concerning their direction.

we are seeing the demise of ATS before our eye's bought about by a severe case of egotitis which seems to be contagious, first Mark, then Bill and now Stephen.

Now there's the question isn't it? I wonder did they pay him off for his websiteor did he just lose interest because believe me, NOBODY is so busy that they would ignore the website they created when it has become so popular. He never posts anything anymore - if you count his posts it comes to approx 1 per month for the whole of this year - now does that sound right to you? All you ever hear on ats is Bill, Mark, Bill, Mark blah blah. I think they need to account for what why Simon has abandoned his website.

Whereas the "where's Simon" question is interesting, and would perhaps make for a fun 'game', I see it as moot.

He's at the top of the food chain, receiving checks on a regular basis, his work is Done... why should he get involved, be involved, or even Care?

We shouldn't project our own ethics or values onto him... He helped to create a product which is now paying the bills for him. For most people 'paying the bills' is their number one concern. Many people will do ANYTHING to pay the bills and care for their families no matter how Loathsome it is to them. I've whored myself many a time simply to make ends meet and I'm sure we've All been there at least once in our lives.

I'm not trying to blow off the "where's Simon" question. I too am interested and curious about what his take on the current ATS situation is. But I suspect he is happy with the pay checks and is simply spending his time pursuing other ventures which interest him more.

If anyone could get me the contact details for Robbie Williams I would be most grateful. I love Robbie's music, really love it, but as far as UFO's and aliens are concerned, he needs setting straight on a few things. Well ok, more than a few. I even heard on the radio today that his girlfriend for the last fourteen months has left him primarily because of his interest in UFO's. Obviously, I don't know how true that is, but having seen some of the comments attributed to him lately, I wouldn't be surprised.

Robbie Williams is prime fodder for the scammers and con artists who are on the lookout for ill-informed, mis-advised and generally naive people who have a lot of money and a high profile behind them.

Robbie, if you're reading this, we need to talk...

I asked Mr. Hemsworth to stop by and fill us in on what went down at ATS, and he replied in the affirmative... we'll see what happens.

Zep:

I'm surprised at you, it took less time to look up Robbie Williams on the internet than you spent typing your post:

http://www.myspace.com/robbiewilliamsofficial

create a myspace account and send the dude a message... maybe he'll get it, maybe he won't but it's worth a shot, right? That's how I found contact info for Mr. Hemsworth, via myspace *shrugs*

That's totally not fair. Just because some dumb twit of a girlfriend doesn't "get it" doesn't mean Robbie's wrong - it just means his girlfriend was close-minded (or feeble-minded?) :)

And couples splitting up due to interest in UFOs is pretty much par for the course. lol

Pah! Myspace schmypace...
I haven't actually looked for any contact information, I was rather hoping that one of the members/lurkers here would oblige with the info. I know he is a member at ATS, I also know there are many ex and current ATS members here, so I was kinda hoping *someone* had already started a dialogue with him and would make introductions.

Ya get my drift?

Hi everyone

Sorry it has taken me so long to pop in and reply to Moomin's post.

It is true to say that last week I was unceremoniously booted out of ATS not by the very management team with whom I had made the initial deal with over two years ago, but by a moderator with a U2U private message marked "straight from the top"!

Now THAT'S Weird had been given it's own forum by ATS in return for publicity on my radio and TV show, and at one stage we even broadcast their "Three Amigo's" podcast and other ATS podcasts with permission of the makers. So they had a LOT of publicity from me although their "damage limitation thread" on ATS on Friday conveniently forgets to mention that! They were even still credited on the end title roll of my TV show last Saturday!

Of late, ATS had been in my opinion, over-moderating posts and using heavy-handed policing tactics to protect a certain former pop star who seems to have become their "golden goose". Since he joined them on an investigation at the Gilliland Ranch recently, they seem to have attracted enormous media interest, stories in daily tabloids, new advertisers on their site and of course new members. However any thread where this "celebrity" posts is crammed full of deleted posts called "off topic" even though most were NOT off topic, and I dared to complain!

I put a post up in my own forum asking whether others thought the moderation was a bit "over the top" and it was immediately deleted by the moderators, so I put another one up slightly reworded and it was gone within 5 minutes, again deleted by the Mods!

The official reason given to me for the demise of the official Now THAT'S Weird forum, was that they had now signed an "exclusitivity deal" with Hollywood's biggest celebrity agents the William Morris Agency!!

In my opinion, what was a good free speaking forum, has sold out to commercialism and no longer represents the views of its membership.

More can be seen on my two recent blogs at http://blog.myspace.com/rosshemsworth

Hi Ross, welcome to RU, sorry to hear your relationship with ATS ended so poorly.

So would it be correct to say you started to become critical of ATS before the “exclusivity” excuse was handed down?

Knowing the way these guys operate, I wouldn’t be surprised if they haven’t actually signed a deal… where’s the press release?

Either way, what a totally unprofessional way to do it… Mark and Bill didn’t have the balls to tell you themselves?

Were any of your complaints addressed?

Another satisfied customer…
