Greetings from the States

Postby subdivisions » Fri May 27, 2011 9:52 pm

Hello from the Great American Southeast. You can call me Subdivisions. It's the name of my favorite RUSH song I am here to listen to what people have to say about, well, everything.

I look forward to seeing you on the boards.
There's a long road,...I've gotta stay in time with, YEAH!

I'm not sure what's so great about it, well Florida anyway... I for one was more than happy to leave the state bird, the cockroach, far behind. :)

Great band, great tune, and great username... welcome to RU Subdivisions.

Another great tune. Boston's first album was the soundtrack to my, and I suspect many other's, life for a while.

Welcome, subdivisions, hope you like it here.

I'm not a huge fan of Rush, however.... I do have a collection of totally-awesome tracks that I use to show off my car's stereo system (or test out anyone else's), and the drum solo segment of 'YYZ' is one of my first picks...

If anyone likes drums but hasn't heard that solo, shame on you...

Starts about 3:20 in, but really you need an original recording and a big system with sub..

(hmm, dunno about the xylophone bit in that version..)

Thanks Tom. LOL about Florida. I had fun when I was there, but I wasn't there long.
Right now I am looking through the forum topics, just getting the feel of the place.

Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks for the welcome chrLz. I love any music that is well-crafted, or from the 70's. Or from Canada. Guess Who, Rush, Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot and Ann Murry! (Just kidding about Ann Murry).

Have you seen the dvd of "Rush in Rio", The feedback from the Audience is amazing.

I've seen parts of it and heard a lot of good things about it.

If you haven't seen it already, check out the Rush DVD "Beyond the Lighted Stage"... it's subtitled "The band you know. The story you didn't." and can be a real eye opener.

P.S. I trimmed your entire quotes of two previous posts for you. It’s usually not considered good internet etiquette to do that. Better to just quote the specific part (or parts, one at time) of the post you are replying to. Makes posts easier to read and saves precious electrons... :)

Welcome subdivisions - interesting user name, I like it. :-)

Thanks for joining up and entering the fray. RU grows slowly and steadily but with an unmistakable tenacity that promises many years of good things to come... it's always very good to see new members. So, a hearty welcome. I hope you enjoy the reading, and also decide to dive in and do a little bit of your own writing. :-)

Damn, I thought I'd replied in this thread and I haven't...

A [belated] welcome to RU subdivisions! I'm more an Adele or Robbie man myself, but also partial to a bit of Beautiful South every now and then.

That said, when I lived in Germany I did enjoy the music of the Böhse Onkelz, or "Onkelz" as they were known by their fans. They were huge in Germany, despite the best efforts of the media to portray them as right wing extremists (they weren't).

My favourite Onkelz album is Es ist soweit (It's time), with this track by far my favourite:
Nichts ist für die Ewigkeit (Nothing Is Forever)

I know, Onkelz and Adele, so alike!
