Au contraire Chorlton, we've been having some great weather here just recently :)

It has to do with the following:

Championship Play-Off Semi-Final second leg
Hull City AFC 4 Watford FC 1
aggregate score: 6-1 to the mighty Tigers (against the southern nancy boys)

Just a small sample of the amazing atmosphere at the KC stadium on Wednesday night, found on YouTube:

Highlights:

Next Saturday I shall be making my way to Wembley for the final, along with over 40000 fellow Tigers fans.
I can't wait :D

Heh, Hull hasn't had any fishdocks for years - that'll be the codheads across the river in Grimsby ;)

I'm still not over the events of this past weekend. What a totally fantastic experience. It was pure, raw emotion and I'm still buzzing. Maybe in a few more days, when the enormity of it all has sunk in, I will be more coherent. I very much doubt it though. :)

Over 40000 made the trip to Wembley and on Monday over 100000 fans turned out to welcome the team home. All of which means getting tickets for next season is going to be much harder than ever before

These videos capture the day pretty well I think.

And we even got a mention in the New York Times!

The operative numbers are $119 million, 104 years and 39 years.

Hull City gained promotion to the English Premier League after its 1-0 win against Bristol City in the Championship League playoff Saturday at Wembley. The victory means Hull will bank about $119 million from television rights, sponsorship and other perks.

The Yorkshire club, whose colors are black and amber, has never played in the top division in its 104-year history. Hull’s greatest achievement had been when it advanced to the semifinals of the 1930 F.A. Cup. As recently as last season, Hull was in danger of being relegated to League One, the third tier of English soccer.

But along came the 39-year-old striker Dean Windass, a hometown boy. Windass, who began his career at Hull City in 1991, scored Saturday on a spectacular volley from the top of the penalty area. “As soon as I hit it, I knew it was in,” Windass told the BBC.

On Monday, Phil Brown, the team’s manager, told The Times of London that Windass remained in the team’s plans for next season.

In January 2007, Windass went on loan to Hull City from Bradford City. He scored eight goals for Hull to help the team avoid relegation, and ended the season as the leading scorer for each club.

To say Windass is a colorful character is an understatement: Playing for Aberdeen against Dundee United in November 1997, Windass was shown not one, but three red cards. And on FIFA Fair Play Day in September 2006, while with Bradford City, he grabbed the crotch of Cheltenham’s John Finnegan.

Hull has an American connection, too: goalie Boaz Myhill, was born in California to an American father and a Welsh mother, and has played internationally one time for Wales.

Does it get any better than this? Oh yeah, the English national team beat the USA 2-0 tonight

Apparently some people also believe that the city of Hull has a premiership quality football team.

Anyone for Martians ??

As everyone knows, this website is based around the need for evidence and data to backup wild and unsubstantiated claims. I don't know, let's have a look at the evidence.

Barclays Premiership Table @ 20th October 2008

1. Chelsea 20 Points
2. Liverpool 20 Points
3. Hull City 17 Points
4. Arsenal 16 Points
5. Manchester United 14 Points
6. Aston Villa 14 Points
...
16. Everton 8 Points (yep, that's JayKew's team... heh)

Hull City's results so far:
2-1 WIN at home to Fulham
1-1 Draw away at Blackburn
0-5 defeat at home to Wigan
2-1 WIN away at Newcastle
2-2 Draw at home to Everton (should have won this one in the first hour!)
2-1 WIN away at Arsenal (!)
1-0 WIN away at Tottenham
and last but not least, from yesterday:
1-0 WIN at home to West Ham

Source

If more evidence is required, how about 3000 Tiger Nation folk in full voice at Arsenal a few weeks ago, you know, the same Arsenal who have only ever lost once before at the Emirates stadium - incidentally, to the same team we beat yesterday... Muhahaha!

I rest my case Your Honour :)

Cheers,
Steve

And as for Hull Football. The smell from the fishdocks usually makes away teams so ill they lose. :D
However I CAN say that Hull has a damned good STD Clinic

Haha!
They haven't done any large-scale fishing* out of Hull for a long time. With Hull having the largest numbers of teenage pregnancies in the known universe, I can imagine the local STD clinics being very busy indeed - hence being very good at what they do.

*large-scale fishing, geddit? geddit? hehe

Been out all day today and missed all the footie results.

So I thought I would freshen this thread up a little.

Im mostly interested in how Hull got on today and how they are doing overall since the last posting here.

Im also trying to find a definition of the word "freefall" and wonder if Zep may have a suitable one to hand.
